I had noticed recently this new jockey appearing in Melbourne races - Jamie Melham. Figured at first it might have been Ben Melham's brother or the like, but then looked at their stats and saw a significant number of wins and a cracking strike-rate. Did a quick Google search and realised that it is of course the jockey previously known as Jamie Kah (and now married to Ben Melham). Doh!! -

See the "Time for a Comp" thread for more details on how the wider comp works. Most of you should be very familiar with this format - but please note the change in the Regular Scratching rule - there will be no subs for regular scratchings - it is up to you to replace them before the posting deadline. For this week all you have to do is as follows: 1. Either pick two horses in each race listed below - you will have $10 each way on both and a $2 quinella; or if you'd prefer to pick just one horse in any (or all of the races) you can do that and you will have $20 each way on that one runner, but you will forego the quinella. 2. You will have two best bet races where your bet is doubled. They can be any two of the 12 races listed below. Posting deadline this week is 1.30pm This weeks 12 races are as follows - a great card to kick this comp off. 1. Te Rapa R4 2. Te Rapa R5 3. Te Rapa R6 4. Te Rapa R7 5. Te Rapa R8 6. Randwick R7 7. Caulfield R4 8. Caulfield R5 9. Caulfield R6 10. Caulfield R7 11. Caulfield R8 12. Caulfield R9 Please enter horse numbers, not names and remember to nominate two best bet races, and some form of punctuation between your two numbers is very helpful - thanks. Regular scratchings - it is up to you to replace any scratchings prior to the posting deadline. If you don't then you will have only one runner in the race, unless you have two scratchings or a single pick is scratched, in which case you will have no runners in that race. Late scratchings - any late scratchings will default to the TAB sub (and second win favourite if you already have the sub or both your runners are late scratched). In the event of equal second win favourites the second sub will be the horse with the lower saddlecloth number. If you have a single bet and it is late scratched, you will have a single bet on the TAB sub. Abandoned races - we need a minimum of 6 races to be run for the results to stand. Any less than 6 and we will re-run the round next week. If you had a best bet in an abandoned race you can change best bet races up until the posting deadline - after that it is just the rub of the green. -
Name them and tell me how the last 4 have enhanced NZTR and they were all Racing People

As is said previously it's a CEO job, You really do need to up your game and get with the program of how to run a business, thats the job he has
-
Nothing to do with it or anyone's ownership credentials, its a CEO job, his job is to run the ship based on Boards strategy

Only about half way through so still a way to go. Some of the predications are scarily accurate (synthetic/processed foods, wireless technology and transport) but some are a bit off the mark. He thought electricity would be so cheap by 2030 that it would almost be free.

They still seem to get punter support in the south. I thought South of Houston was the best bet of the day after its unlucky run in good company last start. It ended up paying over $6 with the unplaced Te Akau horse a $2 fav. I'm not a Te Akau knocker at all, but I do like seeing their false favs in races where I like something else. -
If its broadcast on BBC then about 1000 people in the UK will see it and if CNN broadcast it then 1000 people in the USA will see it. The other decent international broadcasters wouldn't bother with it would they?

Imagine what the rest of the World must think of NZ watching goings on at Waitangi.

Maybe Donald if he's looking at taking over Gaza he could also suggest taking over Russia and North Korea, that would weeken China's position on the global scene😀

Nerula can you throw any light on what his ownership interests are?

Some would say so those stables can keep sucking the $$$ out of their clients? How many races have TA won today at riccarton, judging by the love race article this week they should have been winning every race.

Cheer up everyone he is an Owner and if he has been paying attention he will be aware or NZTR and its past performance. It would be a good start if he turns up to work in Cambridge, follows his Boards plan and keeps all the troops following a sensible strategy.. He's got Balcombe as COO who knows the ropes (that is if he turns up to work at Cambridge). That is the key for the top tier - they have to be on the job at Dick St.

Totally agree , without that outlet where would those ex northerners go , certainly not racing , and god knows we need every horse possible . But just replying to a question . I wish it were different but it's just the situation we are in now . The reality is that the CD and SI are becoming more and more irrelevant in the big scheme of NZ racing .

Seems that the Recruitment Agency who select NZTR CEO's bin any candidate with impeccable racing backgrounds. Then shuffle the pack of those candidates with great academic/business qualifications who wouldn't know a forelock from a fetlock.

Your facts are obviously quite correct Nomates, but that's what tiered was is all about and that's how it is supposed to work. It's why Waller and Neasham have big stables in Queensland. Its why Victorian horses get sent to SA. I think it shows some aspects of the industry are working well, usually despite the efforts of NZTR. -

The NZ Racing industry has had a terrible history of introducing non racing people to key roles over at least the last 30-40 years. It has never ended well. They always think non racing people can somehow see the "big picture' and are much cleverer than anyone actually involved in the industry. I don't know the chap at all. Might be a super star. Might be another John Allen.
