Who did the background checks and balances that lead to sign up with Entrain? Who are the Accountants over the years who have suggested which path Racing should go down and sell off our Family Silver and assets and demolish perfectly functioning buildings that were used as Racecourse Stands that have been replaced with inferior buildings? The Accountant and his "intern helpers" involved with Ellerslie selling off of Public Domains and who is understood to recently have retired needs to be held to account for his role of years of failures and having lined his own monies from our Public Purse. Equally concerning is Sam Stubbs Simplicity builds on Public Domains as in our ELLERSLIE remaining what use to be Grassed area. Does anyone know how many Trees have been chopped down now in the Racecourse? We all cop it about declining Bird populations and much of it goes back to those in the "Construction" industry.

@janeg On the vest with the name "Purr Fect" does it have any other labels? There was a movie based on the book written by Mildred and Gordon Gordon's book written in 1963 called "Undercover Cat" which became a Walt Disney movie by the name of "That Darn Cat" and often horses are named after other names associated with an era. The use of the word / name "Purr Fect" may have been associated with someone who also liked Cats or purring along like a Pugeout motorcar.. It's unknown if the Gordon's also owned Racehorses but lived in Los Angeles in the 1960's and visited Christchurch.

Correction re 33 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland - Edna Halloran resided at 35 Broadway as per Newmarket Borough Centenary 1885-1985 magazine compiled by the late great Kevyn Male. 35 Broadway was a cross between Residential and Commercial. Newmarket commemorates it's 140 th anniversary this year. As will many other Towns/ Boroughs in New Zealand.

Ditto questions re Ellerslie Racecourse museum (?) And the Collection from the Old stand There needs to be accountability. As an aside, why is Ellerslie new stand still covered in Plastic sheeting? Why did some of the Budgeted monies not get spent on ensuring it has been repaired? How many years has it been like this now? Why also was some of the "Fast-track/ Covid19" 30 year financial sector screwing over of the people, not spent on a Racing Museum? Shameful.

We've been wasting money on stakes at the expense of infrastructure for a long time now. What's new. -
Interesting to see some comments given the horse's name: Anhedonia is a condition that makes it hard to experience pleasure or joy in activities that used to be enjoyable. I wish the connections all the very best and may they get both joy and success

This shows how backward we are , Best trial fields you would want to see at Matamata , but we can't , issues with providing the videos of some of the heats and delays with others , WTF , how hard can it be ??? !0 heats run but only 4 videos up . Trials in Aus are broadcast live and we can't even provide a video of a trial promptly . Sums us up . Maybe we're putting too much money into stakes and nothing into the IT side of the business .

Pretty much seems like the inevitable, the numbers simply do not stack SI racing will become a complete backwater, lifeline to Harness though, and if south of Hamilton life will be very testing for TBs. All very sad

That is exactly the problem , if NZTR has to work with 50% of turnover then stakes will plummet and with that ownership , struggling trainers will go to the wall . Then we will be in a position where we will become a Hong Kong type industry . Big Owners , big trainers in and exclusive club .

Wouldn’t be holding your breath on that one WD. With declining attendances, betting turnover and horse populations the “golden renaissance” may be sweet, but short. I have yet to see any strategic plan for the industry AFTER the Entain funding dries up.

Well said , the current funding model appears to coming from a substantial handout . There's a reason they don't publish turnovers any more , they would prove the discussion that turnover isn't sustaining current stake levels . Now they may well have a secret plan that none of us are privy to and it will prove all the doubters wrong , and I loke you bloody well hope they do prove us wrong . And to be honest if in another 3 1/2 years they stay on and stakes stay or improve then I honestly don't care how they are funding the bigger stakes . The thing they have to work on in coming years is increasing owner and horse numbers , something that at present appears to be stagnating .
