I like your thinking Zakhu , the single most important line in racing , innovation is required . But unfortunately if there is any it is purely up north , for the rest of us it is shuffling the deck chairs , the biggest innovation in the CD in recent seasons is the number of big races moved north . Myself personally I don't belief we have the number of quality of horses to sustain "Carnivals". The ones that some would say we still have are but are a shadow of what they were , I have championed "Iconic Days" for a while . Regularly run every 3 weeks and shared around the districts .  In the instance of the Wellington Cup meeting I would suggest we have an "Iconic" meeting . Consisting of , Wellington Cup Telegraph Wellesley  Levin Classic/Desert Gold  Thorndon  The rest of the card can be high stake lower grade races . The races missed have now become pretty low grade leadups , unlike years gone by , so these can easily be slotted in at other dates if they went with regular Iconic days . But certainly innovation that works for every body is a big requirement .

Regan Todd cut the number of horses in his stable to put more time into the top horses. I think the G1 horses need individual treatment and it's hard to give them that if the stable has many horses. It worked for Todd with his horses really making their mark this season. The industry is in good hands with some good trainers coming through, Todd, H & A Cullen, N Williamson

Dunn’s are quantity over  quality…quality  suffers due to quantity…little things missed….. Unhinged can advise his investment re return….. sent Spellbound to N Purdon to get group success… better return…. 

You do need to remember tomorrow isn't really a Wgtn meeting. It is a displaced Manawatu meeting. And the Telegraph is a displaced race, moved to suit Auck. No one in their right mind would start the Wgtn Cup carnival tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how many turn up. They probably won't have to worry about thousands of confused members of the public upset by the disappearance of their grandstand.

They are showing the quality (rather than quantity ) of their training ability.  First Class trainers they are and would put a horses with them No worries at all.  Setting horses for races and getting Big results. Mo'unga, Marketplace, and all his support horses are racing so well for Regan Todd. I'm sure Allstars giving him THE FIXER that time , helped him on his way and gain confidence in preparing good horses.  Cullen also with that huge Allstars experience for years , sends around a few runners that always seem to be a chance as he gets established as a Trainer on his own. OliviaT helping him no end too.  The Dunn''s stable with 50 odd horses going around at any one time in work,  is a bit like Grant Dixon here in QLD with 80 horses (because a couple of his millionaire owners breed them and he's stuck with them lol) and so they have several slower horses racing at slower places. surely they should step it up a notch?  (and scale back lol)  When really both those stables (Dunns and Dixon)  should just have Top stock to race and be more selective . VERY hard FULLtime work doing 50 and 80 horses with a gazillion staff ??  they could have less and do them better possibly?  like Allstars have for a long time as a leading stable. They should have Just have good Metro or Stakes winning horses like McCarthy, Barry Purdon, Emma Stewart , Hall's in WA, and Allstars have done for many years?? . forget about Nelson and places like that lol. leave that for the hobby and picnic participants to get some of the fun. they need a winner to keep interested in the sport.

Researchers found that a couple of extra minutes attached to the umbilical cord at birth may translate into a small boost in neurodevelopment several years later. Children whose cords were cut more than three minutes after birth had higher social skills and fine motor skills than those whose cords were cut within 10 seconds. Iron in the body is critical for healthy brain development. The natural transfusion of blood via delayed cord clamping delivers a substantial amount of iron. One study found that waiting two minutes increased iron stores by 27-47 mg. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, waiting three minutes may prevent iron deficiency during the first year of life. Approximately one-third of its total blood volume resides in the placenta. This is equal to the volume of blood that will be needed to fully perfuse the fetal lungs, liver, and kidneys at birth. Another potential benefit of delayed cord clamping is to ensure that the baby can receive the complete amount of clotting factors. Basically the increased volume of blood will naturally increase blood platelet levels, which are needed for normal blood clotting. Delayed clamping also results in an infusion of stem cells. This plays an essential role in the development of the immune, respiratory, cardiovascular, and central nervous systems. Along with many other functions. The concentration of stem cells in fetal blood is higher than at any other time of life. Immediate cord clamping leaves nearly one-third of these critical cells in the placenta. Stem cells may also help repair any brain damage the baby might have suffered during a difficult birth. Why do you think hospitals want to bank/buy cord blood so often? It can be used to help with so many things! Delayed cord clamping is SOOOOO important. Not just delaying a few minutes. That’s better than nothing, yes. But delay until the cord is no longer pulsing and is white. That’s ideal for baby to get all the good stuff

It may not be tomorrow given the weather but one things for certain the Chute will be harder than the rest of the track. Howwever t it was concrete on  7 December 2024 and I'm sure a few owners can vouch for that as their horses recover. Houses?  The last time I was there all I could see was piles of rubble.  If I wanted to watch live racing on a TV screen I'd stay at home.

Neither would spend anything like Dunns have done in say last 3-4 seasons. Yet they are doing very well and are being rewarded with new owners and higher quality stock. M Pudon is more or less winding down his harness career by the looks of it although i hope he keeps selecting yearlings for stable clients because his record on that score was nothing short of remarkable

Totally agree…. Don’t spend millions at sales….  Win group races regularly…. Be cheaper per month than Dunn’s….. 

Some double up's Fox. Alcaraz in all three Tennis. Broadsiding twice some with Interpretation to win both NZ cups.
