    • Noel Graham Harris (Mount Maunganui): Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the thoroughbred racing industry Noel Harris (Te Ātiawa) was a formidable force during his 45 years as a racing jockey. His career bolted from its 1970 start as he went on to claim 2167 national victories, the New Zealand Jockey Premiership in 1972-1973, and the coveted title of New Zealand Champion Apprentice Jockey in 1971-1972. Harris shares the New Zealand record for most wins at 3200m – boasting four New Zealand cups, three Wellington cups, and three Auckland cups. • At the moment, the 1944 Carter Handicap remains the only American stakes that featured a triple-dead-heat for the win spot. But it almost had company. On the first Saturday of May, no less.View the full article
    • Anyone else get peeved waiting for stipes report, supposedly soon after last race, its 10pm and no sign of it yet, poor form I'd say
    • I believe the government is allowing 15 online casinos licenses to operate in NZ, I stand to be corrected though, It may well be that TAB/Entain may well try to operate one, thinking that banning online casinos will bring more money to TAB is dreaming, probably the same as pokies, those who play those more than likely don't give a shit about horse racing, sports betting might be different. No deductions as it is does allow exploitation but no reason why no deductions if bet placed 15 minutes or less before race start, also if you take a place bet on the tote with 8 starters and late scratching reduce to 2 place dividends if you get third you should get at least you'd stake back.
    • Only winner for me over the 36 races was sods law, quite short divvy but does like the track,,  came close over circuit with evidently and rapid response, both at tidy odds, only horse I dropped on the Westport first day run was Deirdre Franco, to my peril, the one roughly I needed, 21 lenghs from winner the first day, amazing turnaround, they certainly keep you on your toes,
    • Heck that's some sort of a divvy in a small field, thanks for that.
    • Wonder where Return to Conquer is as not in stable, mot shown as exported?
    • 100 percent!!!! Some of the politicians banging away about the 'reasons' should drop into a TAB now and then and take a look. One of the worst things ever passed was putting pokies into the community. Have a night out at the Casino where they are monitored more closely for pokies, not just at some hole in the wall joint or TAB's. I'd imagine online pokies would be devastatingly addictive too so hope that Entain don't have this in their 'portfolio'....
    • Unhinged had J Dunn winning the drivers premiership….. love is blind…… B Orange domination…..
    • This is a very good post.  Very accurate re no deductions.  Bruce understands betting. I have never heard of playsafe cards but now understand them, thank you  It gives me the sh1tes that TAB is using gambling responsibility as part of the reason for the blockage or offshore bookies.  If we really serious about this as a country remove all pokies from venues (maybe with exception of casino).

    • Wet dead track today makes it harder for those horses with weary legs after Westport.
    • I have re calculated and still come up with $7,495,00 plus GST in purchases - $8,607,000 inclusive including a $1,000,000 unraced filly.   For about $450,00 in stakes to date. Well done to everyone who bought a share in Imperatriz and Avantage that sold for millions as broodmare but for every one of them there are plenty of stallion syndicate Lethals and No Limits given away as gelded hacks.   So let's agree to disagree -Happy New year and best of luck to you with your horses.  Over and out on the subject.
    • About $120 and $150 boosted price.
    • No deductions. Good bye my old friend. I will be sad to give up my daily visit to https://www.racingzone.com.au/dual-acceptors/ Putting my objective hat on, is was a crazy promotion and so open to exploitation just through open source results, schedules, dual acceptors lists and figuring out various stable permutations. The best market I saw was 38% ($38 bet = $100 EV). However moving forward, they could make it that if a horse is fractious at the gates, and subsequently scratched, then have no deductions.    Regarding overseas gambling, the real problem is online pokies and paysafe cards. Your average person has no idea what a paysafe card is, but it is essentially legal tender for the criminal world. You can buy from most dairies and petrol stations. In New Zealand they are almost solely used for online pokies, drugs and money laundering. There are crackheads who spend their day buying paysafe cards with cash from petrol stations. You can buy your drugs with paysafe cards. And millions of dollars are spent in online casinos. They need to be banned!!!    Overseas sports betting is generally your "sharp" money and I would have a guess that relatively little will change in terms of TAB revenue. We might have to forego the BET365 account, but your true market makers will still be easily accessed.
    • Yeahh, a  quite visible and significant hind end slip from the trackside rear view vision.
    • You wouldn't see it in real time. They played a slo mo video of it with a different angle. There were definitely some loss of traction as one of its hind legs went out from underneath it.
    • DSD did not have the Auckland Cup on its schedule until a late change in plans, so whether that'll count against him at all? The change wasn't last minute, so he should be okay. I'm going to go along, so hopefully the predicted rain doesn't arrive.
