    • Both probably but the many before it is what caused you the issue here and its my opinion if your post gets posted or not, and that is all that counts as I pay the bills, if you dont like it here you can always go back to your own cess pit.Nobody is forcing you to stay here.
    • So my post on the Caulfield Track bias was not worth posting and or was antagonistic?
    • Bearing in mind quite a few of my posts have been deleted by the moderator.  No not deleted at all get your facts right please they were just not posted as they were not worth posting or were just antagonistic posts...when you follow the forum rules and stop fighting with nearly all in here then you will be treated as the other 99.9% of posters in here.
    • Common sense Turnip? Is it in our administrators vocabulary?
    • Misrepresent what I posted if you wish by selectively choosing one single post.  Bearing in mind quite a few of my posts have been deleted by the moderator.   However even the best Strathayr's require regular yearly maintenance and then significant renovation at some stage.  Having two tracks would assist that process.   The sward isn't going to last forever and the grass plants will need replacing due to phenological changes and wear and tear.  Especially if as some on this thread have said Ellerslie will run 30 meetings a year! If Ellerslie is going to be the one and only track in Auckland and without any training facilities then it will require significant revenue from other sources and stakes subsidisation.  I still think it is a strange decision not to have fixed the track layout issues to provide fairer racing.
    • I agree as well . You see all this drama over advertising fast food , however advertising gambling is just as serious which could lead to an addiction
    • I tend to agree, the target demographic is now about those that like an occasional flutter and instead of playing the pokies just put a pin in the racebook. Nothing Entain does now is for the purist punter. Their form comments are just total crap and misleading, and for newbies and occasional punters that know no better.
    • I have to say the Box Seat is really good to watch now . I stopped watching it some time ago because it was so boring . But now so informative and its great how they bring in the Whale and Mick as well . Mick's comments today about the Alex Park race where they started at the 1600 rather than the 1700 were spot on . He said the winning connections should have been paid out and all bets refunded for the losing bets or bonus bets sent to the losing punters
    • If you watch TV for more than 15 minutes you will see an add from TAB/Entain, it is saturation advertising, just like Lotto. It has obviously worked for Lotto, their turnover this year must be huge, last night's $30 million powerball prize takes the jackpot prize money paid out this year to $224 million !!! I don't know how successful the racing advertising is, the "bet it out"  concept seems to me more applicable to 12yo's, than adults, but I identify now more as a grumpy old man, rather than their target demographic. The UK and Australian Governments are looking at limiting or indeed banning gambling advertising, while I am not aware of significant lobbying here yet, it is probably just a matter of time with this in you face promotion of gambling.
    • NEW PLYMOUTH: BEST BET: R1 STROUT (1) Strout appears to be in a strong position for this race. Coming from a stable known for its consistent performers, early money suggests there’s considerable confidence in his chances. Notably, Grylls has chosen to ride Strout instead of another well-performing first starter from the same stable, which further supports the belief that Strout is a strong contender. Additionally, Strout recently won a trial at Foxton on the 15th over 1400m, demonstrating good form and likely being fitter for this race. Given these factors, Strout looks like the one to beat. Combination Bets: 7, 8, 13 EACHWAY: R2 MALACHY (1) It looks like a solid lineup for the Friday meeting, and I’m confident that Malachy will put in a strong performance. His fourth-place finish in an open trial was promising; he had a solid outing without being overly pressured, indicating he has more to give. With the improved track conditions and Masa back in the saddle, I’m expecting Malachy to run boldly in his fresh-up effort. Combination Bets: 3, 4 WATCH: R5 RAVENNA ROSE (9) The combination of Grylls and Patterson is a well-established duo, boasting an impressive 3.9 strike rate. This familiarity often translates to strong performances on the track. It’s worth noting that the step up in distance should play to their advantage, especially considering that she will fitter following his recent outing over 1400m. With this added fitness and the longer distance, I believe Ravenna Rose is well-positioned to make a significant impact. Combination Bets: 5 RATING SPECIALS BY RACE: (NEW PLYMOUTH) R3 BANNEN (2) First starter Bannen has shown promising potential, having outperformed another newcomer, Derryman in my ratings. Bannen's recent second-place finish at the Rotorua trial was valuable, as he learned a lot despite racing greenly in the final stages. That trial took place on a heavy 10 track, but I expect him to improve significantly on a firmer surface. This change in conditions should suit him well. Combination Bets: 7, 11 R4 RAYET (11) This super talented mare is well-equipped to handle the step up in competition today. In her last outing, she convincingly beat Tossuforit, a strong competitor in her own right, which speaks volumes about her ability. Given her recent form and the quality of her previous opponent, I’m confident she has what it takes to make a big impression in this race. Combination Bets: 12 R6 SHEZ SHAMUS (9) The Peter Lock stable is currently in excellent form, and Shez Shamus stands out as a strong contender after winning an open trial (right-handed) by sneaking up the inside late in the race. While her strike rate of 12.5% left-handed raises some concerns, she has shown enough potential to suggest she could surprise a few in this race. If she doesn't perform today, keep an eye on her for her next right-handed outing, as that may be when she truly shines. Combination Bets: 1,2 R7 MYALDABELLE (10) Surprised me when she out rated Kealoha here but is in solid form and really looks to be able to step up in grade and be competitive. Extra distance looks idea after running nicely through the line at last start win.   Combination Bets: 2,5 R8 PRIVY GARDEN (8) With a lovely draw, a favourable weight, and being trained by one of the best in the business, this horse is well-positioned to secure a victory today. Given the current circumstances, it certainly seems like the right opportunity for her to break through for a win. Combination Bets: 2
    • I always maintained that Auckland needed two tracks, that was  untill Ellerslie turned to Strathayr. I would imagine when the track is settled in they could run 30 times a year, and thats counting winter meeting. If ATR could put some money into maybe sand slitting Pukekohe, That would make a great 2nd track just out of Auckland!
    • Next month I heard...hope he gets back soon.
    • Anyone know how Michael is getting on and when he is coming back?
    • Living the dream in this country Leigh Incompetence that simply beggars belief, maybe, just maybe, Messara had it right
    • I see Te Aroha got the green light yesterday for a restart of racing there but they can not run 1600m races as there is an issue, how in the holly hell was this not fixed in the last 18 months of the track being reconstructed....once again the powers that be shoot themselves in the foot...what a joke.
    • All well and good if there was going to be a reasonable balance , but from what I understand once , and a big once , Ellerslie is up and running full steam they expect to be racing on a very regular basis , possibly once every fortnight or even more than that , which would make a second track all but redundant . They have always said that once the track was up and running properly that they would be holding winter racing . I stand to be corrected on that point but I'm sure I heard the head guy state that . Also I would assume that Ellerslie being Strathayr that certain specialist equipment would be required for that track . As for the nub of CM's argument , it began with simply being that a large city needed 2 tracks , no more no less , but as ever with Doug he broadens his argument when others blunt his initial point .
    • The expected intercontinental showdown in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) took another step toward reality Oct. 23 with the announcement of pre-entered runners in that showcase as well as the two-day event's other 13 races set for Nov. 1-2 at Del Mar.View the full article
