Nice collect for Jack to take a big lead but carnage elsewhere. 27 lives lost and two more (Winner and Foxmerts) have lost their third life. Plenty more of us down to our last life. -
Im aware of all that, my question was whether or not it was better to do two $1 exactas like Tom suggested - A to beat B and B to beat A. Or would it be better to just do a $2 boxed quinella. Outlay the same. Same combinations covered. But potentially different returns.

He has to learn not to get excited about the horses out wide, as they don't flash down the outside at Ellerslie these days. -

George has been a serial underperformer for ages IMO. Seems not to be able to read a race 300 out and loses concentration when things get tight . Called a photo finish for third in one race earlier when their was a good half length between 3rd and 4th. Accuracy is no longer his forte

Picked up a mere $80k for running third last night in Grp 2 company. Pays expenses for a day or three amongst the cognoscenti at Spring HQ (that's Victoria, not Sydney, by the way). I am in no doubt that SNS will never be as good as he was talked up to be (by you know who) during his 3yo pomp. That virus or whatever clearly affected him severely. However, he is racing with plenty of heart/courage and, back at big, roomy Flemington on the first Tuesday in November, another Cup dream could burst into reality. Though I'm no great fan of the Rogerson stable, for the horse's sake I hope it's the dream that comes true not the nightmare.

And what about the those who go off stride behind the arm like Ivan was complaining about a few weeks back. Very slippery slope..

I found the post match interview after the race quite amusing. The interviewer wanted to talk about the karaka million, but the trainer said he was keen on black type first and the jockey said it would be a good horse by the autumn. Good to see the whole season isn't all about one race.
