As we approach November of his first year with runners, freshman stallion McKinzie already has confirmed perhaps the most commercially important of his promising traits: grade 1 success as a sire of 2-year-olds.View the full article -
I just can't place that last guy and I must know who he is lol . Barry what a trainer / Driver he is and he deserves everything he has got . I first met Barry when I worked for Len Bayer and took a horse called Monkey Bar to Wellington (useless it was too lol ) I remember we all stopped for Breakfast ( went down in the horse float Win Stenning was the driver back then ) Anyway went to pay and the guy said its already been taken care of , Barry paid for me , that's the type of guy he is .

You know it was really funny . I was working for Jim at the time and Murray used to work Mountain Haze at Jims Place . Anyway Mountain Haze lined up for his first race and Jim said to me this horse goes alright . I thought oh ok it's not that good , well you would remember he won and paid $20 and I didn't back him lol .

Without going back to look at all the stats, my instinct tells me that recent Melbourne Cup winners haven't gone on to win too many races subsequently. It is also worth remembering that the Australian racing scene is totally different these days to what it was only a few years ago. There are now numerous multi million dollar races scattered throughout the season, especially in NSW. It's a different world out there and there are massive opportunities if a horse is well placed. -
funny thing Chris is the rider change today probably cost the win, if Joe works for Opie why did he throw that guy GEORGE ON TODAY AT HOME AND PUT THE HORSE IN A PLACE ON THE TRACK THAT MANY SEEMED TO TRY TO AVOID after riding the horse further forward over further ? complicated game alright🙄

How many have chosen a similar path Doomey? its only a gutbuster if your no good 🤣

you have taken more drugs in the last 3 months than i have in 50 years mites, you choose your own path and the drugs required to counter that lifestyle and choices....PLACEBO effect is powerful and whatever blows your hair back, good to see you are still alive and kicking and running on whatever revolution it takes to turn your table

Yes, very impressive but will need a bit of luck in running with such a big field from that draw. LAKE FOREST ran against 14 in the Commonwealth Cup - he'll get outpaced I suspect though if he can get track position and come home strongly, who knows?

Fair to say Aidan O'Brien is far from happy with the Racing Victoria vets and whatever you think of his past record of running horses in Australia, it all sounds like Racing Victoria running scared of decent Northern Hemisphere 3-y-o having been burned by the likes of REWILDING and CROSS COUNTER. If you don't want the NH 3-y-o, change the race conditions - yes, I know they have to a degree but even so. If you want the Melbourne Cup to be a race for ex-European plodders, fine, it's your race but this twisting and evading to prevent horses running doesn't sit well. There's a real contrast with the Breeders Cup where the Americans take a different line. KINIESOLOGY remains in the race for Jessica Harrington and is 50/1 with the books over here but as no.29 might yet get a start. Betting up here, with VIA SISTINA's withdrawal, is 4/1 BUCKAROO, 5/1 VAUBAN, 6/1 ONESMOOTHOPERATOR and 10s bar.

sounded like stacey was hounding the show pony from his own admission Mites,no depth in NZ league probably attributed from the ground up.....warriors will have the distinction of the only club never to win the NRL

He is playing because all of those named ahead of him - Johnson wasn't even named in the original squad actually - either pulled out themselves or their club pulled them out, either due to injury, requiring surgery, or both. Jahrome Hughes was the first choice halfback and fully intended playing, but had to withdraw after picking up an injury in the Grand Final. Johnson answered an SOS. He wasn't the second choice either, although l cannot remember now who was.

Still One to Get Charlie .. you'll have to try and go back 40 years lol 😅 The bloke in Bottom right of photo. He definitely wouldn't of won a NZ Cup but you may have driven against him probably. A very funny man. The 2 gents getting Cups beside him Wolfie (with many) and Then Richard Brosnan, who won the NZ Cup with Bonnie's Chance. BTW the winner of this Drivers Championship (in photo earlier in this thread). was the the TALL man at far right 😁. He might be winning this years Nz Cup as a Trainer very soon as well. One of the greatest Trainers of all time. -
why is Shaun Johnson still playing? surely by now we have found a replacement ,there is no point lining up a player who is there to have fun in such a serious role...im going tonga, WRONG coach who loves money and typical of nz league jobs for the boys....only shining light our class wingers

Absolute gentleman like his dad and brothers. The problem with Remarkable (with Owen in photo) is he was by 'Mark Lobell', and they were all a bit Loco in the Coco 😋. That same year Remarkable did well as a 3 year old , Jim Smith was driving another 3 year old named Mountain Haze to a few wins for Murray Miller of Manurewa. Owen ended up driving Mountain Haze as it was clashing with Lee Nandina. we nearly all fainted when some yank paid $100,000 for Mountain Haze . 💰 a huge amount of money at the time. Made us ALL try and get a few more racing anyway 😄🤣. -
spot on pure. If money was no object surely connections would go the obvious path, Might and power i wouldnt of given a shit show but history tells us dominant cox performances translate....i would be surprised to see this horse race again anytime soon and the Universe dictates trend. Big mistake but hey yulong have produced brilliantly to date..... yulong 1 universe 0

Because the Melbourne Cup is Iconic and you don't get many chances at it. Verry Elleegant wasn't a Woosey anyway , and gave it a shot. And took the step up from 2000m 3 years ago. JMac cruising in by 3 or 4 lengths with that mare. bless her heart. -

My early $2 went on Okita Sushi @ 101 - now @ 17 so some value there perhaps. $10 on Warp Speed @ 17 (now 31) and 50 on Zardozi @ 26 (now 31) are on the drift 🤔 Despite lengthening on the back of a slightly disappointing Caulfield Cup run, I still like Zardozi - especially the 8.50 place odds.
