In Australia if they had a provincial meeting that was going to be really heavy and a track down the road wasn't nearly as bad they would sometimes move the meeting.
You do wonder about transferring meetings to Trentham at this time of year when most horses are looking for better going.
Wasn't Awapuni synthetic track supposed to come into play at times like this?
Although, with the reluctance of some trainers to race on the synthetic there would probably be a heaps of scratching......
7.3mm of rain is expected overnight, finishing by 9:00am.
For my threepence worth, it will be heavy, but so what.
Some will love it and others wont.
There will be plenty of scratchings, but the track should be a safe as it possibly could be, unless there is a surface water problem, which I seriously doubt.
The only thing I can say with certainly, is that they will plough it up, and with all the scheduled meetings to come, that isn't what one was hoping for.
I am wondering if there isn't an ulterior motive with how this is being handled.
And what if it isn't tough shit for participants , again , FFS get professional , if they think there is any doubt then move them , TODAY .
FFs try and show some empathy for the owners , just this once .
It beggars belief , I really didn't think they could make it any more difficult .
The Trentham track was inspected early Friday Afternoon by the regional track advisor, the track manager and the RIB. The track is currently a Heavy 10 and in safe state to race on.
Overnight rain is predicted and a further inspection will take place at 6:30am Saturday.
Note the professional commentary.
None of this bullshit we have to endure listening to today e.g ribbon of light ,the chief, right on the lollie etc etc. So predictable, so boring. The commentators those days with no TV for punters to watch were true professionals.
Gubes you da man ...
pse also tell me about the racing career if there was one of Vignette b 1969 (Shy Boy-High Venture). If memory serves she wasn't fast enough to keep herself warm. Did she leave anything good? If memory serves, Max was a 5th former and some racing types in Woodville were thinking little Max is the right height and weight to be an apprentice jockey...so they tried to get me to take Vignette for a quiet canter around the track. (PS: Max was clever enough to refuse their kind suggestions LOL.)
Maximus 24 three year olds have won the Melbourne Cup. The most recent was Skipton in 1941. He was ridden by Billy Cook and trained by ex-New Zealander Jack Fryer who trained Wotan to win the 1936 Melbourne Cup.
Now a stallion, Mage is already having a powerful impact on the lives of Ramiro Restrepo, the bloodstock agent who fell in love with him and bought him, and the father-son combo of Gustavo Delgado and Gustavo Delgado Jr. who trained him.View the full article
