    • They certainly moved the Livamol with plenty of time up their sleeve. Tomorrow morning is too late. Way too late.
    • I am wondering if there isn't an ulterior motive with how this is being handled.
    • Can't see how that could possibly make the track unsafe. Otherwise, maybe move it to Foxton?
    • Now 8.4mm forecast. I wonder what it will actually be.
    • **** Switch out Dee and put in Shinn and I reckon you'd do ok PS  ( reply from Say No More)  Can't do it SNM  . Not after this magical moment 2 years ago  in the Vic Derby. couple of ternacious 'kiwi' lads fighting it out. That 2nd bloke improving his riding and winning last years Vic Derby to make up for this 2nd placing here in photo on the NZ Derby winner too. 😋   (the ill-fated Riff Rocket winning last year)   both the last 2 Victoria Derby winners trained by Mr Waller as well.  and he hasn't got one here this year , that's a shock looking at the field above 🙄 Jmac and Mickey Dee are  the Kings of the track 🏇🏇 . and with King of Thunder and King of WallStreet tomorrow . the 'signs' are spot on for another Quinella like in photo below. The NEW King was just in town last week too. (King Charles was on a very fleeting visit) so a sign he was sorting them out lol.  gunna be a KING SIZE Derby collect tomorrow.  😁💰💰    (all going well 😆)     Long Live The King !!! (king's 👍)

    • Anyone else think the above is very odd?  Medically, the term epistaxis means nose bleeding, regardless of cause. NZTR seem to propose re-defining it as nose-bleeding unless caused by trauma, while at the same time suggesting they are aligning the rule with veterinary terminology which they clearly are not. Did they bother to consult with the NZVA before proposing this wording?
    • Maximus Vignette had 10 named foals, 9 raced, 8 winners: Vizier 11wins Sir Vigilant 3 wins including the 1985 NZ St Leger and Wellington Derby. Later sired winners. Also: Bugatti 2 wins, Ultimatum 3 wins, Vibrance 3 wins, Lady Villiers 2 wins, Villa Deste 2 wins and Valorous 1 win.
    • Proposed change to the rules. EPISTAXIS Background: There are a number of words or terms which have been used in horseracing historically which are not correct from a veterinary science perspective. For example, the Rules use the term “attack of nasal bleeding” or “nasal bleeding” instead of the veterinary term “epistaxis”. It is proposed therefore that the words “attack of nasal bleeding” be replaced with the veterinary term “epistaxis”. 651 (1)  Epistaxis shall be the appearance of blood at one or both nostrils, irrespective of quantity, unless in the opinion of the Stipendiary Stewards such bleeding was caused by external trauma. Page 9 of 9 (2) If a horse suffers an episode of epistaxis at any time the Trainer of the horse must report the fact of such episode to a Stipendiary Steward without delay and must subsequently supply that Stipendiary Steward with any further information in relation to such episode which they may require. (3) A horse which has, in the opinion of a Stipendiary Steward (following consultation with a Veterinarian, as applicable), suffered  an episode of epistaxis shall not, without the permission of a Stipendiary Steward: (a) be ridden in exercise for a period of two months from the date of the episode [Amended 1 July 2021]; or (b) start in any Race or Trial for a period of three months from the date of the episode, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Stipendiary Steward and/or Veterinarian. (4) If a horse suffers more than one  episode of epistaxis, it shall be ineligible to start in any Race.
    • Another one under a cloud -  UK raider Onesmoothoperator has eased in Melbourne Cup markets after sustaining a cut to its right heel bulb. The Geelong Cup winner was inspected by the Racing Victoria veterinary panel on Friday and could not be passed suitable to race at the time.
    • Are there odds on Sharp N' Smart Top Ten?
    • Maximus I posted details about Vignette's racing career on the Derby thread.

    • Surely there are plenty of premier tracks available to pick up the slack . This particular pigeon was always going to come back and kick them in the arse . , bigtime . I said it earlier if there was any doubt then xfer Otaki and Trentham around , simple solve , but far to complex for the powers that be . I wonder what Entain will make of all this indecision and possible lost meeting . Oh ! that's right it's bad luck .
    • The problem is, there is no where else to go.  This year this meeting was originally scheduled for Hastings, but we all know what happened there.  Last year it was a Trentham so I guess that is another reason it was shoved in.  Quite simply with the current fronts coming through, one after the other Trentham shouldn’t be racing this often.
    • I don't think any of the AWTs have ever come to the rescue of a grass track meeting. It appears that part of the equation has proven to be fallacious.
    • In Australia if they had a provincial meeting that was going to be really heavy and a track down the road wasn't nearly as bad they would sometimes move the meeting.  You do wonder about transferring meetings to Trentham at this time of year when most horses are looking for better going.
    • Wasn't Awapuni synthetic track supposed to come into play at times like this?  Although,  with the reluctance of some trainers to race on the synthetic there would probably be a heaps of scratching......
