Funny story so far is Barry and Scott currently 130th out of 140 odd, on the current NZ Trainers Premiership. for with Trainers with a placegetter so far this season 😅 They should be on the winners list shortly , but is quite funny seeing the champions so far down the ladder for the minute. -
A lot of the top stables have been very inconsistent lately . The only horses I could back with confidence are Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan's . The Dunns and the Telfer runners seem hot and cold these days . -
El Conqueror . Am surprised Blair wasn't questioned about his drive on this horse it was a shocker . Don't know if you watched it , but he sat on the back of a horse going backwards instead of going around it . He cost the stablemate Tu Tangata as well . Both horses made up a stack of ground in the home straight

The one that can always upset them is Clyde in Race 8 . Back to a mobile and if he leads could hold them out , this is the type of race that suits him

I'm sure their long term focus will be primarily Online gaming and Sports betting with Racing dying away in the shadows eventually. The $100m stakes boost is probably a cheap entrance ticket in the end wash up.. Lets face it, the total cost to extract a dollar from Online gaming and Sports events 'run by others' must be significantly less and far more appealing. -

It's a great Trial day would love to be there. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't on a retainer with TA and if he is good on him and good on them if so, very smart move. Trial 12 is the big watch. $2.1m Wootton Bassett / Avantage . Avantaggia Bring it on tomorrow. -
Not completely unknown in the UK or Ireland to have 10-y-o maidens starting on the flat though most will have run under National Hunt rules. The older flat horses tend to be sprinters these days, I remember a horse called CHAPLIN’S CLUB winning at 13 on his final race in 1992 but the oldest runners were jumpers. SONNY SOMERS won two steeplechases as an 18-y-o but the oldest confirmed runner was one CREGGMORE BOY who ran his final race in a handicap hurdle at Cartmel in August 1962 at the ripe old age of 22. -
Looking back at the actual racing, the two who impressed me for the future were KOHEROA and CHECKMATE. The latter reversed earlier form with YALDI and MIDNIGHT EDITION and looks more likely to go for the Derby than the inaugural running of the Kiwi.

Sweet Ice is highly unlikely to run in the 2yo KM, so that elevates Belle Du Monde. Most open edition of the race I have seen and no Te Akau domination either. -
And that's their re-write. It was even funnier before when they were tipping their 3rd and 4th selections as great place bets in a 4 horse field with no place options.. Plus they moved Orchestral from 3rd selection up to second during the re-write. And dropped Shamus from a top-2 choice to 4th pick. "ORCHESTRAL (1) Only fair when 12th last run at Flemington. Overlooking the last run and facing a weaker grade. Should be swooping on the field late. Will relish the track conditions. Solid place bet prospects. POUR THE WINE (4) Outpaced some runners late when 5th last run at this venue but competing at a higher level of competition. Warren Kennedy has been successful in the saddle previously. Honest and strong place bet in this race." -
Ted I think 12 ran in the 1880 Grand National Steeplechase. Tragically three horses come to grief at the Redwoods (later Cutts) jump and had to be destroyed. Five others ran off at that fence. The Agent won from Royalty. -
Some of those early open trials and the 2yos are looking more interesting than a lot of the recent race days . Must watch viewing . -

Well, I raced an 11yo last season that hadn't raced for 2 years due to a tendon injury. Won a race as a 9yo. What's wrong with that? We couldn't get him back fully right but he retired sound and loved being in work and racing. -
Clearly, he wants to be linked to their Ozzie operation and now that Opie's gone he puts himself forward to be offered rides for the best ones TA has in Victoria both now and in the future. I'd be surprised if he has paid any airfares😛
