Racing can be so up and down . I had one bet today , I put $20 on Vinnie Colgan to win the jockey challenge at $5 . Going into the second last he was one point ahead of Masa who was riding Ladies Man the hot favourite . I thought there goes my cash Ladies Man is bound to run first or second but finishes fourth . Vinnie ended up winning 😀

Cup Day T/0 $7.2m 2023 $6.945m Stakes $2.036m $1.363m races/horses 12/169 12/155 There was a 4% increase in Turnover, however there was a 26% increase in the stakes paid, and it also included the Dominion, for the first time. The betting on the Cup was $1.8m, and on the Dominion $600k, which means the other 10 races had an average T/0 of $480k

The announcers were having orgasms about Blair's drive, I thought it was pretty simple, logically, after Tuesday, you would have to think that the only way to beat the Dominion winner was to come off his back, all Blair had to do was drive in a straight line from the start onto his back, then come out in the run home and let the best horse win. For me, 90% of the congratulations should be for the trainers, who have produced a fit and healthy horse who has been improving over his last 2 starts, culminating in a great victory over a champion Australian.

Few hard luck runs in the stewards, good to see the locals get a winner, I took Lincoln's Kruz, he quite stiff no run up the straight and had to switch to worst part of track, the inside

Yeah , but Oscar Bonavena is a tremendous horse too. He won the Dominion H'cap - NZ trot FFA double last year himself , winning both race very easily both times. He's not far off being the New Zealand 'Just Believe' equal as best trotter? ? . Oscar is very close to the $Million dollar club now too . (Sugars often sits parked with him (just Believe) and wins in Australia so I wouldn't blame the drive,. OscarB was just too good yesterday .🏆 FOOTNOTE: OscarB was raced by the late great Roy Purdon MBE until his passing February 2022. Oscar Bonavena had won the NZ Trotting FFA ( this same race where he just defeated Just Believe) in 2021 as well . So was probably the great Trainers last Group 1 winner as an owner . (Mark took up his ownership share after Roy's passing ) Roy and Mark 's family must have a real soft spot for the remarkable Oscar Bonavena from this. -
Then we had Greg trying to interview winning jockeys with some sort of blaring noise in the background, I couldn't hear a word Sam Weatherley said, he was completely drowned out. Then after that back to the studio and Saliva Stothart is on. And agree the Dagg, Morris crap was embarrassing. Why are Entain trying to turn NZ racing into a Circus ??

We know Greg Sugars is one of the best PS but that was poor judgement he showed with Just Believe . I have no doubt Ben would have given him the lead if he came up to have a look , Plus Muscle Mountain was a run short so he wouldn't have minded trailing . If that was the case Oscar would have sat parked and Just Believe would have won

Lighten up you bunch of killjoys who would take the fun out of eating an ice cream

Absolutely. Bunch of clowns. These fancy name segments…Friday Night Lights, Big Saturday, Sunday Session, The Mail etc are all questionable as entertainment.

Totally agree. Israel Dagg acting like an idiot. If he’s the best they can find I suggest they get rid of this section. We want to see the horses and racing info not this garbage.

Israel Dagg and Pip Morriss are producing the most cringeworthy and embarrassing charades coupled with hosts grinning like hyena’s in an effort to generate “fun” in. this desparate Entain era of Trackside
