How many winners for Wexford in Melbourne this season? No doubt they're flying at the moment; (as mentioned) maybe the focus on NZ rather than HK is helping them and (as not mentioned) maybe the Te Akau focus on Melbourne rather than NZ is hurting them in NZ. -

Champion NZ jockey Opie Bosson retires Posted by: JustHorseRacing at 12:54pm on 27/12/2024 Posted in: Horse Racing News, International Horse Racing IMAGE: BRUNO CANNATELLI Champion NZ jockey Opie Bosson has announced his retirement from race riding on social platform X (formerly twitter) on Friday. Bosson’s journey in racing began under the guidance of his godfather, Stephen Autridge, where he started as an apprentice. His race-day debut came at just 15 years old, riding Comette at Dargaville on October 25, 1995. Not long after, he celebrated his first victory aboard Fairlie Airlie at Gisborne. His first Group 1 win was aboard Jezabeel in the 1998 Auckland Cup, aged 17. On September 2, 1998, Bosson secured Chris Waller’s first Australian victory by guiding Party Belle to triumph in a 2100m maiden race at Wyong. In March 2019, Bosson broke Lance O’Sullivan’s record for the most Group 1 victories in New Zealand, achieving his 63rd win when Melody Belle claimed the New Zealand Stakes at Ellerslie. Bosson is one of eight jockeys to ride over 2,000 winners in New Zealand. -

My mum was right very hard to put brains in statues...😂...so you think the quality of their winners and the consistency of their runners is the same as previous seasons...then no point arguing with you as you have no idea. -
The Fields for Banks Peninsular on Sunday, show that a lot of people want to stay local to race during the holiday season; The Emergency numbers per race are; 5-2-5 Nil 5-4-2-5-1-2-2-Nil, obviously there are a lot of owners wanting to race now, even with the dilution of numbers to Southland, West Coast & Central Otago.

I am looking at the stats aka facts. Te Akau is earning $8,500 per start Wexford $8,100. Te Akau have also picked up AU$1.4m in stakes in OZ so far this season from 55 starts. A return of AU$25k per start. Overall over $4.5m in stakes. In NZ they're are actually tracking better than the last two seasons! Hard to match last year in OZ with Imperatriz being a big contributor. -

Facts dont lie as to the quality of the winners...just look at the stats for the season...as I said before there are winners and then there are WINNERS...Wexford is getting most of the WINNERS at the moment. -

Slightly off topic, but for those who enjoy a Sports Bet, I think the Renegades offer decent value at $6.50 in the BBL (in from $7.50 yesterday) A lot of firepower in the batting lineup and solid enough to cover things in the bowling. You get to follow your money for a few weeks too! -

Prizes: I'm putting up $200 and Phil (Alf Riston) has kindly offered to put up $100, so we'll have: $200 to the winner; and $100 to the runner-up Prizes in the form of a single bet (win, place or each way) with 50% of any collect going to the winner and the other 50% to the Huntington's Association. In the event of ties, the tie will be split by the entrant who picked the most Gallops winners (it is a racing site after all), then by the entrant who picked the most Football winners, then the most US sports winners. If these don't split any ties we'll split the prizes in usual tie fashion. -

This comp is not for the faint hearted and will take a bit of work to compile your selections, but die hard sports fans should enjoy it. You have to pick the winners of the various races and sporting events (listed below) that will take place across 2025. 1 point for each correct selection - most points wins. Please note this rule in particular - you can't pick the same horse, person or team more than once. For examples, you can't pick Scottie Scheffler to win all four of the golf majors - you have to pick a different player in each event, you can't pick Liverpool to win the quadruple, you can't pick Via Sistina to win more than one of the big WFA races. The one exception to this rule is that you can pick a US sports team to win their conference league and also to win the championship (Superbowl, World Series, NBA finals, Stanley Cup). If you wish you can pick a championship winner that is different to your two league/conference winners. For the avoidance of doubt the sports events listed below are all the mens versions of these events. This may seem a little bit unbalanced but I'm just going with the most popular sporting events. The horse racing events are all gallops events. The easiest way to post your entry is to highlight and copy the events listed below, paste it into a new post and add your selections beside each event. Entries close: Sunday 5 January, 7.00pm (giving you enough time to complete your entry but closing before a few of the earlier events) GALLOPS Telegraph Wellington Cup Karaka Million 2yo Karaka Million 3yo The NZB Kiwi (slot race) NZ Derby NZ Oaks Auckland Cup Bonecrusher NZ Stakes AJC Derby Golden Slipper Doncaster Handicap Queen Elizabeth Stakes Stradbroke NZ Jockey Premiership 24/25 winner Grand National (Aintree) - winner's saddlecloth number Caulfield Cup Cox Plate Melbourne Cup Everest US SPORTS NFL - AFC winner NFL - NFC winner Superbowl winner MLB - AL winner MLB - NL winner World Series winner NBA - Eastern Conference winner NBA - Western Conference winner NBA winner NHL - Eastern Conference winner NHL - Western Conference winner Stanley Cup winner FOOTBALL A League winner English Premier league winner English League Championship winner Carabao Cup winner FA Cup winner Champions League winner TENNIS MAJOR winners (men) Australian Open French Open Wimbledon US Open GOLF MAJOR winners (men) Masters PGA Championship US Open British Open RUGBY Super 15 winner RUGBY LEAGUE NRL winner CYCLING Tour de France winner MOTOR RACING Grand Prix - drivers championship winner Grand Prix - constructors championship winner Indianapolis 500 winner -
