Should have been an apostrophe after the word trainers ,,,,, I wasn't meaning the trainers were whinging , you were whinging , trainers are the decision makers and made decisions what suited themselves . -

Gee. I said the NZTR cheerleaders would come on and say well why did the trainers start there. But I really didn't expect such a pathetic response. As to the whinging trainers. If you read what I said again, a bit more carefully this time, you will see that was the whole point of my comment. None of them have complained. They just accept what is put in front of them. Most people on here understand my posts, even if they don't always agree with them. I will use shorter words next time to try and make my message a bit clearer. -
Is it because the Trainers Association go on the theory 'silence is golden' or because no one takes any notice of them when they do speak??? Racing industry is galloping towards destruction - led by leaders who wouldn't know if a bus was up them - unless, of course, someone rang the bell to get off. Of course the PR blurb will tell you different.

Geez why all the whinging trainers chose to start in this race , completely irrelevant where the trainer started them last time any decision was the trainers , they could have stayed at home they chose not to and of course the winner could have stayed in the North it didn't and they knew what was coming up. As for the rest of them have been lucky enough to try for better money even though they seem to be very very average horses, this all comes down to where the trainer see how and where to place a horse with the future in mind . Just for good measure look at the field again most would struggle to win a 65 again . -

absolutely right ,and well said . Then there is the bullshit slot race which is effectively the rich getting richer ..a swinging dick competition...On to the Otaki Group 1 race being run at Ellerslie in Feburary ,I dont know what to say about that ,it is so ridiculous ...On to the momentous day in March when all of the ATR major races are raced on the same day ,leaving nothing for the other dates ..too bad if it pisses down on that day aye..to hell with tradition and history ...I realise this post was relating to the south but it is symptomatic of the lack of pattern in scheduling by so called experts -
Here are some more facts and figures. DCE bought and syndicated 27 horses costing approx. $10m from Karaka book one 2022 to bolster the Te Akau 2yo and 3yo stock by now. Add about another 3.5m to that in training fees insurance etc. over the next two years. To date those horses have won approx. $550k gross less percentages with 40% of that amount by one horse (Damask Rose). The $1m sales topper is retired unraced. Ugly numbers. Many of the best Te Akau horses have cost less than $200k which is where Wexford seem to focus with less risk and better returns. I know who I would rather buy a horse from.

John Morrison the only one who can get it away. 30 drives for 5 wins and 12 placings a better than 50% record. Jimmy Carter is getting up in the grades now.. Would still make a good mobile horse in Aussie

Jimmy Carter has won 7 races since late Autumn 2023. He one one this winter at Addington, kinda expected him to win around 3. Didn't get a start in Cup day , was nominated for 2. Think he had a start Show Day, had gone a beauty (2nd) two starts prior.

$18,500 rating 75 sprint at Timaru today. Won by a horse that raced in $65,000 races at its last three starts, the most recent at Trentham. 2nd horse home raced in a $40,000 race previous start and a $65,000 the start before. 3rd horse home, $65,000 race previous start, $40,000 the race before that. 4th horse home, a rating 81, raced in a $35,000 race previous start . $140,000 and $90,000 races its two previous starts. Just in behind them South of Houston, the Aussie import, $140,000 and $90,000 races its previous two starts. A full field, and apart from one horse every one of them had raced in $35,000 - $140,000 races at their previous starts. Can you imagine an Aussie deciding to have a bet in the race and analysing the form and thinking what the hell is going on here. I know a couple of NZTR cheerleaders on here will say "well why did they start for such a poor stake?". They started because it was their only opportunity. There is nothing else upcoming. They could have raced out of their class on a bog track at Wingatui, but there is nothing else to aim for in their own class on a decent track. They raced for the same stake as those trash 4 and 5 horse maiden fields at Taranaki. i know most of us think NZTR is incompetent, but I actually blame the Trainers Assoc. How on earth can they possibly tolerate such a situation without saying a word? -

Pure, I have to wonder if some of these trotters are worth persevering with. A horse that gallops at the start of every race for one or two seasons, like Jimmy Carter, is not likely to change its habit in my opinion. There must be something wrong with the horse, sore or gone sour on the racing. I shake my head when I see some of these trotters, another example is Ideal Invasion. That horse has not gone away for years, even the talents of Super Sarah O'Reilly could not get it trotting. Some of these owners spending plenty of money or nil return. 🤣 -
The first notice was a 'cut n paste' from last year - only Dufusman forgot to change the date!

I thought we were talking about Te Akau. Don't you know their OZ training fees? -

You think?! 5.61 vs 4.97. A difference of 0.64. Or are you talking the last week?
