It would all have been allowed for in lower than otherwise fixed odds prices across the board. They're not completely stupid. Incompetent perhaps. But not stupid. Your second point has me confused (not difficult); "A horse could be a favourite for a race tomorrow yet be in a race tomorrow".

I personally could never understand how they could do this promotion for so long. It was crazy on many levels: Connections could scratch horses late to keep odds high on other horses A horse could be a favourite for a race tomorrow yet be in a race tomorrow. Horses with multiply entries meant you could never price a race up knowing you were not exposed to sratchings. -
This is worth a read if you haven’t already done so. https://harnesslink.com/usa/fwd-mane-freehold-tragedy/ I remember most of those thanks even though I am in NZ Thank God, Goshen is still going. Montecello too. Little places that I have been to although 50+ years ago. Liz

chevy86 Guy has no ownership interests at present. Odds on he will after next months Karaka Yearling sales.

I believe that he’s the brightest star on the channel, of the males. The sooner he gets out and about the better. Last year on Karaka Millions night he was excellent. P.S. Not that I am singing the virtues of the crass event.

My wife still gets these I would guess every 4-5 weeks and she barely uses her account..

Hi Ted, thanks for the reminder. They may well capitulate as yesterday for the first time in two or three months they offered a bonus of 50% for any deposit made. Maximum bonus limited to $100. I thought that they were gone for all time 😁

Changes to No Deductions We introduced No Deductions to our customers in August 2022. While it’s been a popular promotion with some customers, we’ve since offered new exciting generosity tools and options in the last six months. It’s important we review our products and offerings and take onboard feedback from the Racing Integrity Board. As a result, we’ve reassessed offering No Deductions and will bring the promotion to an end on 31 December 2024. From 1 January 2025, deductions will apply on all TAB fixed odds Final Field win and place markets for race meetings. Punters Promise remains part of TAB’s offering. With Punters Promise, TAB customers can win a minimum of $2,000 when they place their first fixed odds win bet on a New Zealand race. A deduction is a percentage reduction of a fixed odds return, due to scratching. From 1 January 2025 these deductions will now apply.

Can’t fault his enthusiasm in any way. He reminds me a bit of our Ed Chamberlin who fronts the ITV Racing coverage. Ed is similarly passionate but previously worked on football programming for Sky.

James Cummings team is not faring as well as they used to either..... He stated a while back they were cutting numbers and focussing on quality. I followed that lead and figured everything they line up now must be more than decent and started backing them religously (which is probably the main reason they are not travelling so well) 🙄 -
Well All I can tell you is on my last bill which I'm 100% positive is correct you are still not right . The difference in stakes doesn't help if your horse isn't winning , but that was never part of my discussion . I can tell you paying the bills on any horse that is not winning hurts . I notice you have not replied to my question regarding whether you have had or presently have a share in any TA horses , why would that be . This has become boring so this will be my last comment .

I've said it multiple times before, but I'll repeat myself. Putting lipstick on a pig (as with Entains entry into the fray) doesn't work. We need to replicate the Japan Racing Industry (also Hong Kong), where ONE admnistrative body is responsible for the entire chain. Breeding, Training, Jockeys, Apprenticeships,WAGERING, the lot....!!! Racing, as a whole is suffering from splinter groups that are all self interested and will make the changes required, nigh impossible. If Winston really wants to make a difference, I believe such a course is the only true way to steer this ship away from the rocks. And I believe the ones that hold the power for change, are the owners (billpayers!!) They should arrange a meeting with Winston and demand action. Rather than continually chasing pathetic stakes they could save money by putting the horses into the paddock or send them offshore if good enough (although, sadly due to the continuous slide down the shitter, very few would measure up for this option). -
stodge his name is Guy Heveldt. He is fairly new to trackside. A former sports presenter for TV1 who covered this years Paris Olympics before joining Trackside. He is passionate about racing. Probably took a salary cut when he started this role.

If anyone is looking for a very good trainer at sensible rates you can’t go past Robert Dennis, I have no doubt that there are a good number of young trainers around and I don’t quite understand the obsession with the big trainers. Roberts win ratio and success with horses he’s bought and the numbers of new participants he’s brought into the game and the success his owners have had financially would leave a lot of the famous trainers in his dust and I’m sure he’s not alone. Myself I prefer those that let their achievements speak for themselves rather than those that prefer headlines
