    • University academics advise Politicians with their "research" - students have for around 40 years now been using Computers to do their work and cheating by Copy / Pasting answers...no critical thinking. Oh for the days of Fire using Pine cones, fallen branches, a couple of coals and burning Rubbish to heat up the home. People in general, especially Politicians don't understand Rule of Law hence all r messed up systems. Once upon a time everyone knew The Road Code which worked perfectly fine then along came the Data Scientists telling Politicians to tell us we must Save lives and stuffed up the working systems, just like Glass Milk bottles because the Dustman cut himself so we could no longer have them...
    • He's gunna be a busy orange.  Gazza,Panama,Canada,Iceland. 🤣
    • Not sure if it's just a lack of ability but a lot don't appear to be finishing off their races , even off a soft run . It's been like that for a while now .
    • Wireless is what is known as what is now an old Wooden Radio either plugged into the wall or operated by battery to Broadcast information/ communications/ music - all advertising in its own way as advertising equals money! This is in the 1920's era when Electricity was a newer invention as previously people used Gas Lamps or Candles from Beeswax  The Eiffel Tower was one of the first means of where Electricity/ Energy and Broadcasting operated through back in the 1870-1880's ERA of The Telegraphy / Telegraph Act Legislation and Telegrams era now we have a different form of Telegram and Text interestingly is the same number of Letters as Telegrams used to be    Herr Hermann Honnef invented Wind Turbines back in the midst of the 1930's ERA based on the Eiffel Tower and Dutch Windmill on top...look him up in Papers Past and weep at the cost he said Energy would be and sheer height of them - he wouldn't have known any better back in that era unlike Scientists/ Physics academics who should know better today. Re Transport, Aeroplanes were designed on Flying Insects and Birds like Gulls  Drones originally on Drone Bees/ Wasps....Submarine designs were originally based on the design of Marine animals like Dolphins and whales .   We had Drones in our neighbourhood back in the 1970's believed to be operated by members of The Brethren Religion although could have been further afield by a relation of HJ Wells so we learnt all about his Novel ideas as children. NZ is a very small place, as is the world.   It's a fun thing to look up what year certain words were first used in PPNZ and what context they originally were. We just looked up "Mr Rain" and "Rain-making" history - it goes back to Gelignite and Dynamite.
    • Certainly not if Riccarton today was anything to go by.
    • Fourteen runners today, three seconds and three fourths I think. South team not setting anything on fire of late.
    • Nah , they wear merino jackets to keep warm up there , with their orange hi viz vests , that's to alert people that they must not ask those wearing them to do any actual physical work . Oh , he might just fit in there .
    • nomates Matt might prefer going to Cambridge or Matamata at 2am in the morning and muck out a few boxes! Grassroots at it's best!
    • Well you've alerted me , had no idea either .
    • Crikey that's not meeting the grass roots , 5am start at Foxton or Invercargill in the middle of July , that's where he will get a grasp of how fucken hard people are doing it . If they have won an 18.5k race they will be smiling because they got something for all their hard graft , not much but hope springs eternal .
    • JJ Flash I disagree with your synopsis. Matt claims he is keen to get around the country and meet the grass roots participants in racing. I can't wait for him to turn up at a cold winter midweek meeting in the north and join me and the bird shit and broken seats in the public stands watching your pride and joy running around for $18,500!
    • It could've been if politicians stopped getting involved with it .
    • I had noticed recently this new jockey appearing in Melbourne races - Jamie Melham. Figured at first it might have been Ben Melham's brother or the like, but then looked at their stats and saw a significant number of wins and a cracking strike-rate. Did a quick Google search and realised that it is of course the jockey previously known as Jamie Kah (and now married to Ben Melham). Doh!!
    • See the "Time for a Comp" thread for more details on how the wider comp works. Most of you should be very familiar with this format - but please note the change in the Regular Scratching rule - there will be no subs for regular scratchings - it is up to you to replace them before the posting deadline. For this week all you have to do is as follows: 1.  Either pick two horses in each race listed below - you will have $10 each way on both and a $2 quinella; or if you'd prefer to pick just one horse in any (or all of the races) you can do that and you will have $20 each way on that one runner,  but you will forego the quinella. 2.  You will have two best bet races where your bet is doubled.  They can be any two of the 12 races listed below. Posting deadline this week is 1.30pm  This weeks 12 races are as follows - a great card to kick this comp off. 1. Te Rapa R4 2. Te Rapa R5 3. Te Rapa R6 4. Te Rapa R7 5. Te Rapa R8 6. Randwick R7 7. Caulfield R4 8. Caulfield R5 9. Caulfield R6 10. Caulfield R7 11. Caulfield R8 12. Caulfield R9 Please enter horse numbers, not names and remember to nominate two best bet races, and some form of punctuation between your two numbers is very helpful - thanks.  Regular scratchings - it is up to you to replace any scratchings prior to the posting deadline.  If you don't then you will have only one runner in the race, unless you have two scratchings or a single pick is scratched, in which case you will have no runners in that race. Late scratchings - any late scratchings will default to the TAB sub (and second win favourite if you already have the sub or both your runners are late scratched).  In the event of equal second win favourites the second sub will be the horse with the lower saddlecloth number.  If you have a single bet and it is late scratched, you will have a single bet on the TAB sub. Abandoned races - we need a minimum of 6 races to be run for the results to stand.  Any less than 6 and we will re-run the round next week.  If you had a best bet in an abandoned race you can change best bet races up until the posting deadline - after that it is just the rub of the green.
    • Name them and tell me how the last 4 have enhanced NZTR and they were all Racing People
    • As is said previously it's a CEO job, You really do need to up your game and get with the program of how to run a business, thats the job he has
    • Nothing to do with it or anyone's ownership credentials, its a CEO job, his job is to run the ship based on Boards strategy
    • Are you for real
    • Only about half way through so still a way to go. Some of the predications are scarily accurate (synthetic/processed foods, wireless technology and transport) but some are a bit off the mark. He thought electricity would be so cheap by 2030 that it would almost be free.
    • They still seem to get punter support in the south. I thought South of Houston was the best bet of the day after its unlucky run in good company last start. It ended up paying over $6 with the unplaced Te Akau horse a $2 fav.  I'm not a Te Akau knocker at all, but I do like seeing their false favs in races where I like something else.
