Mate , NZ racing was on the downward spiral long before Entain came along . Whatever you may think of Entain they have at least given owners some decent stakes at least in the short term . The rest is just wrapping , if you don't like it don't listen , as you appear to be doing . The industry has far larger issues than how the TAB presents racing .

I notice nothing has been posted about Trentham yesterday. I maybe wrong but racing appears to have gone stale in this country. Entain came in with all the bells and whistles, plied money into stakes etc which is great for owners and trainers. But the rubbish advertising and ideas that have come from them seem to have driven race goers away. Why ? .. in my opinion what they are doing is cringeworthy and is definitely not the KIWI way. It's really hard to watch Trackside these days as well, the mute button gets a good work out. There was some good racing yesterday, and Sam Spratt again shone. I'm really worried about racing continuing to become even more plastic, vanilla, and AI. ENTAIN are going to ruin Kiwi racing

This sounds exciting, especially with Dexter Dunn being one of the drivers. I noticed one of the slot holders is Boys Get Paid Syndicate. Does anyone know if its NZ's BGP? Carter Dalgety the only NZ based driver in the competition. Great opportunity for him to complete against some of the world best.

Well, yes, and it’s not in a good place but to derive that exclusively from the attendances would be not seeing the whole picture. Basically, there are three types of UK horse race meetings - the big meetings and festivals, the popular country and evening meetings and the betting shop fodder which is winter evenings on the synthetic under floodlights. The latter might get 150-200 paying customers while obviously meetings like Ascot and Cheltenham have up to 70,000 on their respective Gold Cup days. If you go to hblb.org.uk and do an attendance enquiry you can see the numbers for every meeting. Take as an example Kempton’s big Boxing Day meeting: 2024: 13,863 2023: 13,557 2022: 11,318 2021: 11,578 2019: 17,218 2018: 19,197 2017: 20,150 Numbers were falling before the pandemic and have not recovered - I suspect the NZ experience is similar.
