I see another race has been co-opted from the CD , the listed 2yo race at New Plymouth has been discarded , but amazingly on the very same day at Ellerslie up turns a 2yo listed race .
When did this happen ?, was there any press release about this that I missed ?, very sneaky , or blatant .

He is but she wasn't!
A deal has been agreed to in principal.
What am I talking about?
I find it amusing that many Aussie racing fans are happy to accept the new sprinting sensation Ka Ying Rising is the world's best sprinter but wouldn't acknowledge Winx as the world's best horse.
As long as Ka Ying Rising stays at the top of his game what a race the $20m The Everest on 18th October at Randwick promises to be.
A deal has basically been agreed to with signatures the only detail missing for the Hong Kong star to take his spot in the world's richest turf race and the connections are set to receive a bigger chunk (all) of the prizemoney than any runner in the eight running's of The Everest.
And yes, the royal carpet will be pressed, ironed and laid out.
Get your tickets early or you'll need to be in a helicopter to see The Everest this year.
Yes, Weaver rings a bell.
And Bloke, you are right. The run through the 5 Cups was of great interest to all racing followers at the time. Add in the Concorde, Railway and Telegraph for the sprinters, and the entire Spring and Summer was worth remembering. And now that's all we can do. Every one is a mere shadow of its former self, scattered all over the place with some moving dates on a regular basis. This includes the Auckland Harness Cup (we had two in 2024, one in May, the other New Year's Eve). And that's without even mentioning the quality of the fields.
Agreed, Chris Wheeler started it (If that’s how you spell his name) and from there the breeders, NZBS and the idiots who followed have cocked it all up.
When they moved the Auckland Cup to a Wednesday in March that was supposed to suit the Corporates. That was a disaster which was easy to predict. They also stuffed up the racing calendar because races like the Waikato Cup, Counties Cup and Avondale Cup were great led ups to The Auckland Cup then onto The Wellington Cup.
I am not sure if the so-called Corporates would be there on Saturday. To me it just looks like a giant piss up.
In again this Friday at Addington, amateurs race, shame should be in Group 2 mares race. , probably not her distance , might get the call up for the G1 as she can run 3.10 for 2600m.
Do you think Ellerslie would have stayed as it was without Karaka? I get the impression they were hellbent on moving all of the big races to suit the corporates anyway, thus destroying what they had, and interfering with the Trentham dates too?
The Desert Gold on Saturday was all home bred bar one, and isn’t the winner a beauty?
I am over this sales crap of Karaka and how they have destroyed the pattern of NZ racing, especially the the two Summer carnivals, Ellerslie at New Year and Trentham mid to late January.
