It would have been interesting had Republican Party not had a slightly interrupted run into the straight. When Anthony Butt dived to the passing lane upon straightening l thought for a second Carter Dalgety was going to head out wider, just for half a stride, then realised there was still a gap on the inside of Tact Mcleod. But to come from three-back in that field - even though he hadn't spent a penny - and get as close as he did was a great run. The top four all went huge, and there were some good late runs from the beaten brigade too. It'll be a good form race over the next few weekends l imagine.

Decent ground at Gore as it turned out. CHUPALLA did a passable imitation of ARAZI’s Breeders Cup Juvenile run slicing through the field and travelling strongly but found little in the straight albeit keeping on well for second. This was her first run on decent ground and showed a big form improvement. BONSAI BOB flew home for fourth - he hadn’t shown much but it was an eye catching finish. TIKKI continued her upward trajectory in the third and is another to follow over 1209m on decent turf. SEFTON was the clear winner of the R65 over 2000m. He possibly found Riccarton company too warm last time but back among the country horses he was very good. PIVOTAL TEN was an impressive winner of the Gore Guineas doing it from the front and clearing way from some unexposed types. This was her second Listed win having won at Wingatui on Boxing Day. The dam was an unraced mare trained in Britain by William Jarvis and was herself by Pivotal so you’d think she would prefer slow ground but she looked really good on today’s decent ground. Not sure where they will go with her but it will have to be to a metropolitan track.

I think he is at about near 20 Group 1's now. those 2 NZ Cups (and last night too) with Swayzee were all great drives to beat the NZ best going round. The race after the Hunter Cup he (Cam Hart) knocked off Luke McCarthy , who was our previous best with 80 odd group 1's to his name , and the Current Interdominion winner too ,with Don Hugo . Cam drove a great race on New Zealand mare Aardies Express to beat the favourite of Lukes in the Ladyship Cup. Chris Alford was our best before that , and still goes round, but is a bit like the fantastic Tony Herlihy in the senior realm , and twilight of their careers. not as many wins now. Love Carter Dalgety though !! he was choc full of confidence before the Hunter Cup in the interview, and nearly pulled it off too 🏆. a great young driver doing well. -
Suspect the dent in the vote would have been equal to that of the Labour Party when they had their youth camp scandal. Minimal. The public are generally smart enough to conclude the link between the bad eggs and the current MPs, party, policies, leaders, staffers etc isnt there. Heck we dont even hold the CURRENT MPs accountable. Take the actions of Golriz, Julie AG and Darleen and map them against the stable Green vote over the last 12 months. People dont care. Anyone trying to draw a link between historical MP indiscretions and the party today are solely trying to score political points.

No mention of the actions Seymour took when the complaint was made to him. Instead of saying "go to the Police" he recommended a lawyer. Was that because he thought maybe he could shut it down without the press knowing? Also, nothing from the many right wingers on these forums. If this was a left-wing politician, then they would be on a feeding frenzy with you Triple would be leading the charge.

ACT in the clear . You may have seen news reporting this evening of a story about a former President of ACT New Zealand. I wanted to ensure that you are made aware of the Party's response. The following statement has been issued to the media from a Party spokesperson: The events occurred 20 years before his involvement with the ACT Party begun and there was no way of knowing about his offending at the time. This is not a time for politics, it is a day of justice for survivors. The Party took the original allegation extremely seriously when first made aware of it on social media in November 2022. We took immediate steps to check the authenticity of the claim and questioned him about it. He categorically denied the allegation. We were deeply shocked to learn that the complaint was real and a police investigation was underway. We sought guidance and advice from Mr Paul Wicks KC as to the appropriate steps we should take in this situation and followed that advice to the letter. When we learned that Mr Jago had been arrested and charged we asked at once for his resignation from the Board and the Party, and accepted it. He has had no involvement with the Party since this date. Reviewing the Party’s handling of this matter, Mr Wicks KC advised that the steps taken by the Board had been proper in the circumstances, and that the Board had properly discharged any obligations to the complainant and acted in accordance with the interests of justice. In the time that Mr Jago was a member and President of the party there were no indications of any wrongdoing. We respect the outcome of the Court process and commend the courage of those who have come forward. We hope this verdict brings them some closure. Yours sincerely, John Windsor President | ACT New Zealand -
Real genius our Donnie. Now explain to your halfwit supporters how that helps them…. Igniting a potential trade war The tariffs could lead to potentially much higher costs, disrupted supply chains and the loss of jobs. In a call with reporters Saturday, a Trump administration official said any retaliation from Mexico, China or Canada would likely result in even higher tariffs for that country. Even Trump acknowledged the potential for adverse consequences on American consumers. “There could be some temporary, short-term disruption, and people will understand that,” Trump said Friday when pressed by reporters on the cost of tariffs being passed on to importers and, by extension, consumers. “But the tariffs are going to make us very rich and very strong — and we’re going to treat other countries very fairly.” Hours after Trump’s action, Trudeau announced retaliatory 25% tariffs on US goods, that will be “far-reaching and include everyday items,” making good on his promise that Canada would retaliate forcefully and swiftly if the United States imposed levies. The country’s trade representatives met with Trump administration officials as recently as Friday in an attempt to stave off the tariffs. “Tonight, I am announcing Canada will be responding to the US trade action with 25% trade tariffs against $155 billion worth of American goods,” the Canadian leader said in a news conference Saturday night. “This will include immediate tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods as of Tuesday, followed by further tariffs on $125 billion of American products in 21 days’ time, to allow Canadian companies and supply chains to seek to find alternatives.” https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/01/economy/trump-tariffs-mexico-canada-china-increased-costs

Trump could be on verge of legal victory against CBS as settlement speculation heats up 'Trump is committed to holding those who traffic in deception and fake news accountable,' the president's attorney says Be careful Hokey.

Trudeau: Canada will retaliate with 25% tariffs on $155B of U.S. good Oh, dear Hokey you just forgot to mention this, obviously Trudeau can't count either. Is propaganda missing from your vocabulary? I know something that isn't missing TDS.

I had mentioned this very thing a few months ago and while I wouldn't neccessarily refer to it as 'pulling the strings', Paul's international experience and knowledge seems to be evident at least in an advisory capacity. Ultimately it's good to see a stable having their best season and with some serious prospects 'going forward' (gee, I hate that phrase.)

Very smart bloke that Michael Behrens. Good to see them successfully engaging with NZ racing. -
Look up Equab's comments on housing in 2017 Budget, he thinks we should have had another 480 000 houses in New Zealand if we kept building like we were prior to 1980's and post war. (Radio NZ article May 26, 2017) He is a huge part of New Zealand's problem. We don't think he has a clue about population spread or control and clearly lacks intelligence about our country's Geography and needs including Agriculture lands and important to the people, Quality of Life in New Zealand. We recall an interview with him on ZB with Kerre Woodham around 5 years ago and him saying there's lots of land to build houses at coastal farmland Awhiti...hmmmm. We were taught when people said such things a phrase about going back to where we came from, as in our mother's womb, and come back out with a brain. There's a similar one we dare not write... It's unknown how he became a Government consultant in NZ or what role at University his father has including in Christchurch and via Samoa. His works need to be ripped to shreds in the Pulp Paper Shredder just like those of the 111 WEF Tech Digital attendees in 2014 as it has created a serious lop sided screwed up world. There was a mere 3 people world wide Representing the Pulp and Paper sector at WEF that year. It's unknown how many, if any, were representing the Racing Sector There will be No Animals or Nature left because of these people. They have Derailed The Program...

Ellerslie is always a Soft 5 now. A month of drought? Soft 5. 8 inches of rain in five minutes? Soft 5. It wasn't initially because the idiots chose to use their own mix of grasses and ended up with a mat of knitted roots growing sideways instead of downwards, but they're on top of that now. That's the idea behind Strathayr. It doesn't bake hard and it doesn't turn to mud. It's a safe, consistent track you can run on once a week for nine months a year. It'll never suit Grey Way, but NZTR don't want tracks that'd suit Grey Way anymore.
