@rdytdy Have you got a horse racing in it this year? Great set up at The Rapa and fond memories of days at Te Rapa, including the year Sunline was racing. Sunline and others must be turning in their graves at what's happening with our industry and thoughts of shifting of Te Rapa Racecourse - her records along with others disappearing into dust and rubble would be sacrilege and is thoughtless. Incidentally we found a list of the 71 Racecourses around New Zealand in the 1970's in PPNZ which made for sad reading how communities have been harmed with the recent closures of them. They said at the time with the shifting of Nationwide Sales venues there would be consequences to the wider industry and that's exactly what has happened.   Those before us had fabulous foresight with Town Planning. Where are all those great horses and progeny now? Which horses are buried in the Te Rapa Racecourse grounds? Do any of them have descendants lined up in this year's race?   We were in a Charity store during the week and opened up the draw in a chest to find an August 1968 Herald Racing section edition - 2 full pages of fabulous Racing coverage which included names like Walsh, Peake...made us feel a little aged but those boys are much older than us. Do they still go to the Races? Whatever has happened to our Country?

Yes we recall Horlicks racing and winning, however we would like to know more information about why Fay Richwhite pulled out of Sponsorship of a Million Dollar race as they were in deep with other aspects of New Zealand life and ripping off taxpayers. They charged $10 a pop donation around this era to receive there 1 page America's Cup newsletter - postage was around 25 cents for posting those letters. Where did they really get there monies from and should we be ensuring accountability if there's fresh evidence and evidence that should be used? There must be official records tucked away in Racing and other archives that need sunlight. No one escapes accountability for dishonest offences and Racing has had it's fair share of rotten scoundrels causing it serious harm.

Well bugger me, they've now worked out it might be a good idea to programme some R60 races! Meeting News Rating 60 Races   Rating 60 races have been well supported of late in terms of entry numbers. We have also seen a good spread of maiden and rated winners. It is noted that, in recent weeks, several maiden runners have been successful in R60 races. Programming at present has that a maiden race is generally not scheduled at the same distance on the same day as a Rating 60 race. Moving forward, NZTR may look to split Rating 60 races as Rating 60 and Maiden races if numbers support.
