I recall some bizarre story that one of the first things he did when he came out of his coma was to recite or sing the lyrics to a pop song - Anaconda by Nikki Minaj perhaps?
or maybe I'm making that up?
I won't back anything he rides but good on him for his big win yesterday - great to see.
Cambridge trainer Brett McDonald was charged with presenting four horses who returned possitive swabs to phenyl butazone that day at the Ruakaka Trials. He was disqualified for two and a half years and fined $12,500 including costs. The horse Chris Dell fractured both front legs during it's trial and fell.
Happened at the trials at Ruakaka early December 2014 - Dell, 22, suffered suspected head injuries and was airlifted to Auckland Hospital in an induced coma after the fall during the trials at Ruakaka, north of Auckland, on Tuesday.
Dell was on the track for more than an hour as medical staff attended to him. He was placed in an induced coma before he was taken by helicopter to Auckland Hospital.
Stipendiary steward Alan Coles said Dell’s horse did not fall as a result of any interference and no riders were at fault.
Surely they will retire him now, last placing. I worry for the horses wellbeing. I really don't see the point making him race, when clearly he doesn't want to anymore.

I think Don't Stop Dreaming is the best staying horse in NZ. His NZ Cup and Hunter Cup runs first class. He's a great horse that usually would have won a big race by now but he has super stayers, Leap to Fame and Swayzee, ahead of him. Both are two lengths better than DSD.
The Falcon is a versatile horse, sprint or stay. Remember he won that big Country Cup race at Addington a few years back with Gerard O'Reilly driving. He bolted in. I think Australian racing suits him.
I think it helped that he was driven more. patiently. Gath bided her time before making a run around them. He had to sit parked and it was a tough run, but realistically he was running for second. Leap to Fame bolted in.
