Annie Lindahl been riding here for a bit now, limited opportunities so far, had the horse buck on her out the gates at Te Rapa a few weeks ago. Hayley Hassman previously with Phelan Racing rode an amateur winner last year (possibly year before?) went to Australia to gain more experience and now back on our soil, not sure if signed up to TA or continuing amateur path. Parmer is now with Paul Richards.

In that same era i seem to recall lots of Bicarbonate Soda conversations- surely not😚

There was a great little bar at the back of lion red at the bottom of the Main Street , think it was called the Squire McGuire hopefully someone can correct me, Pat Farrell was the barman, of course in those days the public bar was a no go for most of us non patched drinkers

Same figures but reported differently; In the 6 month period HRNZ ran 151 more races, spent $5.254 million more on Stakes, generated $2.871 million more Turnover, but ended up only increasing GBR by $105k. HRNZ still love me, sent me an email yesterday inviting me for FREE entry to Motukarara, soft drinks and barbecue in the NEXTGEN tent, I am of course OldGen, it takes more than soft drinks to encourage me!

I never did, and most definitely never WOULD have, picked a fight in that boozer. I valued my future too much 🤣

Yeah the Sheriff was a bit of a local celebrity, not the full quid but totally harmless, as well as doing the bar rounds his highlight was patrolling the Christmas parade, Brian Notman lived down the road and certainly was one hell of a character

I would have thought so to but he clearly was not happy about me taking $300 off him that night. Hence the restrictions thereafter

Looks a certainty for Junior driver of year - Heaps more races at Manawatu throughout the year - I got him @ $3.30 - still great now @$2.45 - Dalgety going back to the states this year too - not sure for how long but would presume the same as last time 4-6 weeks. Also got "Bet on Red " to win trainers prem @$35 (and tipped it out on here) - now down to $7.50 Got to be a great bet with the number of meeting at Manawatu this year - I heard how many horses he has on the books and it is huge. Dunns team are mostly on their marks now unless they have some young ones that are outstanding and Team Telfer seem to be the biggest danger to House Bet on Red

These two sentences, although not incorrect, are strange to hear from you given: 1. You dedicated a whole year and 80+ posts on the harness thread bagging a guy in true tall poppy fashion and 2. you constantly moan that Entain increasing stakes for those same hardworking people, jockeys, trainers, owners you mention is somehow a bad thing and not worth celebrating. Stay consistent now.

If we are truly outraged at the early thrashing Rogie gave SnS, then I can't understand why Pam Gerard isnt getting the same accountability treatment for the handling of Savaglee. SnS had 10 starts when he was at the same point of his career as Savaglee. Savaglee is about to have start 15 with the same trip to Aus, along with a South Island visit under his belt. Albeit some shorter distances, but still noteworthy imo... time may tell..

Yes, Pukekohe had its own self-appointed "sheriff" back in the day. Was a familiar sight on the street and in the local shops, as well as the pub I imagine.

Pretty sure ACC will be paying her 80% of her previous earnings, that's what the levy is for

I was never brave enough to even enter the place so your tougher than me 😄 So no i dont recall the Sheriff Remember once cleaning out Notman on a 15-dollar shot at Addington which a mate owned Had $20 to win on it and he was still moaning about it 2 years later. Subsequently only allowed 5 each way thereafter

One thing us Kiwis are good at but won't admit it, is the Tall Poppy Syndrome. And unfortunately it detracts from who we really are. Too many big noters, also annoying when presenters and commentators waffle on about all these trips they go on with other big noters, or the horses they own or have shares in. One commentator in particular is good at it. I for one couldn't give a toss, how much piss and b.s happened at any given time. It's the humble and extremely hard working people, trainers, jockeys, owners etc that make racing a success. Dismiss this element and racing will suffer.
