Managed to duck into the TAB in Napier to watch the Southland Guineas. PIVOTAL TEN was extremely good though not sure what she beat. Beating any field nearly nine lengths is noteworthy - where does she go from here? Surely she’ll have to go into some deeper waters somewhere but my ignorance of the New Zealand pattern prevents me offering any meaningful suggestions, At Matamata, not sure what to make of RETURN TO CONQUER in the Slipper. To me, he’s crying out for further but the stable mate ran a huge race in second and has come on a ton for the Wanganui debut run. LEGARTO was huge in the Champagne - a seriously class act and presumably this was a warm up for some big autumn targets. LA DORADA followed up her Karaka Millions win with a front running performance in which the first two dominated but with three of the field missing the start I’m not sure of the value of the form. Finally, a quick word for Kevin Stott and another fine ride to win the last on DESERT MYSTIC.

Oh So Disappointing.  Should be the name of most of my racehorses!

To add to my point above the Appollo Stakes was just run at Randwick on a Good 4 track with winner, Fangirl, taking it in 1.22.18. Many of the runners are starting their prep but they would not go into a race like underdone..

Yes. Still improving and again untested, but still a bit to go to reach the levels of Savaglee and Captured by Love in their last NZ runs, for example.

BS you poke holes in anyone who has a little success.....she is the equal of most if not all the fillies running around at present...she has just kept on improving...who knows where her ceiling is...

The sale is now over, there were 125 yearlings offered with 36 being passed, you can see their reserve prices on the NZB Standardbred web site. In the last lots, after 107, there were another 5 six figure yearlings including, a CaptainT filly at $175k, Sweet Lou colt at $150k, and two $130k horses, a Tall Dark Stranger filly, and a CaptainT filly.

I'm not poking holes just pointing out there are some very good 3yr old fillies running aroung at the moment.

Ozzie K must surely be circling! Always after another horse. Good thing is he often keeps the original owners in. As good if not better than Leica Lucy. Time to start ringing some potholders if they haven’t already

Can you not read ENGLISH I said fillies you sanctimonious....... and yes she is better than at least two of those...and yes in my opinion she is right up there with the best...I bet even a sad sack like yourself would love to own her...but no you have to try to poke holes in a top class filly.

It is certainly a real shame for the South Island. Compare her time with Legarto : 1.21.7 vs 1.23.3 both on Good4 tracks --it gives a good indication how good she is. I'm sure the Aussies will be taking notice so I hope Colin Wightman can hold his nerve or at least get a very good deal for himself out of it.
