Who is doing the Race commentating for the Races because George Simon is understood to be going to watch The Warriors in Los Vegas?

You need to read what Bayly has achieved in his life and you would concede this alleged FW is the better man. So what are you?

1200 from home when Masa had to ease again , it was obvious then Willydoit was going to run down the track . Masa could have worked around from that point and if he got beaten then fair enough at least he would have been put in the race

I beg to differ. They might both be the same circumference, and the opposite way around BUT there the comparison ends.

Is it for stewards to tell jockeys how to ride? Yes, clearly, if rules are broken or the riding of some is creating risk for others but normally I’m less comfortable with stipes telling jockeys what to do. At this point, I’m going to confess I’ve never trained or ridden a horse so the next bit may be unmitigated bollocks so what’s new…. It seems to me jockeys ride to instructions but the nature and extent of those instructions varies hugely and in any case the most detailed plans often don’t survive contact with reality leaving the jockey having to improvise and it’s in those moments of improvisation we see the good and the great in the saddle. Another key aspect of race riding, to this observer, is pace judgement. Jockeys should know the speed they are travelling and how to ride a 12 second furlong or a 48 second 800m. This is something they do a lot in America but all their tracks are the same - not so elsewhere. Getting the pace of a race to suit your horse and enable it to produce its best is what it’s all about.

My understanding is the slot deals aren't always 50/50 and its very hard to find any public details on them... Especially for the Everest and Quokka. There was an article recently about how Ka Ying Rising would only do the 2025 Everest for a majority share OR a 1 year leased share but I cant find it now. A 50/50 share meant it would only win marginally more than the Hong Kong sprint This article was interesting too - Original Everest slot holder Max Whitby lifts lid on behind the scenes negotiating to secure runner for the richest race on turf | Sky News Australia In regards to the prize money and rating questions, I would need to defer and "Ask The Audience" 😂

I used the word circumference, but I always understood Ellerslie and Ashburton were virtually identical in layout, just the opposite way round. -
Excuses excuses ...my Contract is with Sky to deliver services they are not delivering, they know they are not delivering, and they are doing everything except admit it, apologise to all the affected customers and fix it. THEIR contract is with Optus, so they can sue each other's asses off for all I care. Tobe threatened with "interruption of services" if the bill isn't paid immediately is red rag to a Maximus! So there!

As I’m sure you are aware, circumference is just the distance around the track; you can have two tracks with the same circumference with completely different geometry/layout eg one may have tighter bends etc so not sure what you’re getting at here?

I did very similar calculations when the trots introduced their slot race a few years ago. I too figured out that the third place-getter might just about break even, anything after 3rd loses money. And didn't some of the slot holders pay $700,000 for their slot? Did the racing clubs involved actually have to front with $450,000? The CJC must be questioning the value of their investment at this stage. Does Wgtn have a slot? -

I was thinking about this a week or two ago....and did some figures in my head....so I stand to be corrected and apologise in advance if I'm way off paticularly from the Club perspective....from memory they "paid" 450 K for the 3 years.....divide by 3 = 150K and assuming the 50/50 split ...plus other things like travel costs etc will offset prize money I kind of worked out the slot holder who comes third will more or less break even, fourth lose a little bit......6th to 14 th will lose most of their investment so I'm really hoping my Club's horse doesn't run 6th to 14th.........give me something else to get wound up about -
Most Group 1 horses have one thing in common- they can mentally handle racing and even after a hard race put their head in the feed bin and eat the lot. Very few horses can do this. Maybe Willydoit is not in that category yet but next season he may well be.

El Vencedor ran 1:35.91, which is OK but not great for a G1 WFA race. Orchestral ran 1:34.90 winning on Karaka Millions night and Willydoit ran 1:35.05 winning a R75 on 1 February. -
I am not doubting you when you say that the trainer was having trouble keeping weight on the horse, but did you read that or did the trainer say it pre-race? I am flabbergasted to hear that as I was all ready to follow up in the Derby, thus forgiving the crap run in the Guineas.

Excellent questions, none of which I can honestly answer as every deal will be different, except possibly the latest one, because Cambridge own both the Slot and the Horse. There will be other Slot Holders who are Stables but almost certainly, they won’t be the Owner(s) of the horse. I say, let’s stick to proper racing where the trainer trains and the owner owns and the middle man is GONE. P.S. Call me a dinosaur if you want 🙃
-
Could be the case, even the trainer has said he has trouble keeping condition on the horse, and if it's the case wont matter who's riding, so there's obviously a few factors in his poor run, not just the ride, and horses have off days to.

Please explain what does the rail being out 5m got to do with no pace in the race or improving on the turn? -

When comparing tracks, I always understood that Ellerslie was roughly the same circumference as the remodelled Ashburton. I noted several comments in the form guide for Ashburton yesterday that horses were there for the tight track, or shorter straight, racing. Ashburton is usually considered a front-runners track, whereas Ellerslie is traditionally thought of as a bigger track that suits most runners. This seems strange to me since they are roughly the same size. Perhaps after its own remodelling Ellerslie is now even more like Ashburton.
