I must confess my first response when I see a 4/7 favourite is to try and put one up against it at value. LEICA LUCY has been very good though, as @Nerula states, going from 2100m to 2400m is or can be a big ask. LEICA LUCY's dam has plenty of stamina being by English Derby winner Sir Percy so there's hope there.

Was surprised at the leniency too. The move severely checked the horse that would have got the trail out of the race and several other horses were checked too. Illicit Lover wasn't going to get to the lead and Hillbilly was in the one one, which is why Crystal made the move. Changed the whole complexion of the race. No, I did not have a bet.

I thought I would seek expert opinion. I quite liked Connello earlier on, but she was awful last start. On that run she has no chance in the Oaks. I'm actually surprised they are backing her up. The fact they are starting her suggests the connections thought she had an excuse last time. Anyone have any idea what it was? I am conscious of the Derby winner who you couldn't possibly back based on his warm up run, and we all know what he did. On form the hot fav does look a good thing, but I am conscious that we have seen upsets in the Oaks over the years. I'm not normally a big backer of favs. I am still recovering from backing Bound To Honour as hot fav in the Oaks back in the early 80s. Beaten by Maurita I think, who admittedly was a fair type. -

This morning on the CJC'S time slot on Newstalk ZB Chris Rowe head of Marketing and Sponsorship for the CJC put the Clubs $20.00 bet on TOM KITTEN in Sydney. This is the Clubs money going on a bet in Australia where I would presume commission from this comingled bet will go to Australia. Riccarton has 10 races and 129 starters today, very good fields and he choose to have a bet in Australia with the CLUBS MONEY. Is this like a staff member of say a Restaurant telling a customer to go elsewhere. ? If he worked for me he would not be there Monday. Add this to the strange decision over their $150,000 NZB Kiwi slot ..... should I be surprised.

A few weeks ago on the Box Seat , I saw Mo'unga and Market Place doing a workout . Mo'unga lead and Marketplace sat on his back . Market Place ran past Mo'unga up the straight . Makes you wonder just how good Market Place is .

More proof that Don't Stop Dreaming is better driven patiently, Charlie. Kept for the last run he is lethal. You don't often see them coming home from the back at Alex Park. Marketplace stunning. A great night for the Cullens and Regan Todd. -

Firstly I like to say I didn't have a bet on this race. I feel that Illicit love got an unfair advantage when Crystal force her horse back to the rails which checked another horse out of the race. In my opinion Illicit lover received an advantage which helped him win the race. Should a driver be given a decent holiday instead of a small fine to stop this happening?
