    • Since Friday Te Akau have had 22 runners at 4 meetings. No wins. This will affect their strike rate.
    • Shin soreness is the separation of the periosteum away from the bone causing inflammation therefore acute pain.   Not actually a bone softening problem.,
    • The stretch-running Tiztastic devoured the extra distance of the $1 million Louisiana Derby (G2), capturing the longest of the domestic Kentucky Derby (G1) prep races by 2 1/4 lengths March 22 at Fair Grounds Race Course.View the full article
    • Irrigation shouldn't be used to change the state of the track but to provide a safe surface whatever that it is.
    • All clubs have renovation work funded through NZTR as well as a period of time to do so.
    • Funny they were left open away from Friday.
    • Course managers/caretakers are doing their best but are totally hamstrung by lack of funding for gear and equipment. NZTR staff levels continue to increase. Nothing will change unless smaller clubs get more track maintenance money.
    • I didn't realize you worked with JD PS . He was always over at Jim's in the weekends hitting the piss , I left while I could still walk lol . I drove his horse Noble Ring to win at Cambridge . I was lucky because Bob Holmes should have . But he used to crack me up with some of the things he came out with Sadly missed for sure but know if there is a bar up there JD and Jim will be there
    • Can you not read...it was not the track condition...stop blaming her...there was a hole...but it wont stop you from bleeding on.
    • Jack Litten (the great trotting trainer) once told me that the best way was to trot them up and down the tar sealed road. That was 50+ years ago and out West Melton way it was possible back then with so few cars around.  However the principal is still the same….gentle concussion to help the bone harden up. Incidentally I am involved with a three year old filly with good ability (one start for a close 3rd and coulda/shoulda won)  She continues to have soft bone but the trainer is doing all the opposite, spelling, swimming etc and now the season has gone yet I know that she has stakes class ability.  There’s too many cars around these days plus the new fad health and safety rules null in void Jacks old fashioned remedy 🫢
    • We have a 3 year old who has gone shin sore again. Is there any good research into preventing shin soreness? How long should they be rested for? Does walking young horses help prevent it later on? Do pools or working them on beaches help?  So many questions! Thx  Matt
    • The commonsense move is to reopen the Hawera noms for Wednesday , they are currently pretty light , and split any fields they have to . But I started with "commonsense", a reasonably redundant practice at NZTR .
    • Good Cheer easily improved to 6-for-6 and took the lead position on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks standings with a victory in the March 22 Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) in New Orleans.View the full article
    • Winchell Thoroughbreds' homebred Red Route One got a dream pace setup March 22 in the $500,000 Essex Handicap (G3) at Oaklawn Park, and the 5-year-old Gun Runner horse delivered his customary finishing kick to win going away by 4 1/2 lengths.View the full article
