No, I have seen plenty of Rabbits there over the yrs. What activity are you referring to? No one trains there now do they? & besides Rabbits are mostly active at dusk when there wouldn’t be anyone near there.

Congrats for getting back in the game and having a share in a young trotter physically and mentally ready to be at the workouts as a 2yo. As a long time owner of trotters, my advice at this stage of your baby 's career is to listen to your trainer. It all depends what stage of education your baby is at and what was the aim of the outing. First time at the workouts is a big step, especially if it is from a small stable. What you want to see is your novice learning the necessary race craft, gaining confidence and hopefully improving each time it fronts up.

Don't need to ask. It was published online. PRESS RELEASE | Update on penetrometer readings of Ellerslie's StrathAyr track 8 Jan 2024 Auckland Thoroughbred Racing Auckland Thoroughbred Racing (ATR) wishes to advise that throughout the StrathAyr track testing process at Ellerslie which included gallops, jumpouts and trials, ATR found that the penetrometer readings taken on each occasion did not provide an accurate guide as to how the track was performing. In collating feedback from stakeholders, it is apparent that the readings are stating the track is much firmer than how it rides. After discussing the matter with the team from StrathAyr, Chris Hay, Track Manager at Elwick Racecourse in Tasmania (a racecourse also in possession of a StrathAyr track) and New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing, it has been agreed that using penetrometer readings to determine the level of firmness of the Ellerslie track is a flawed process. Therefore, for the foreseeable future, the Ellerslie track will be declared a Good 4 irrespective of rainfall. This track rating will be a more accurate guide for stakeholders including the wagering public. ATR has every intention of continuing to publicise the Ellerslie track penetrometer readings once they are more reflective of how the track will perform. – Ends – -

That's not correct. It's essentially both. In the annual accounts it is coded Infrastructure Expenditure. Quote: "NZTR track infrastructure spend is the amount that NZTR is directly spending on supporting Clubs to improve and maintain their tracks to support track sustainability long-term. This is an output measure as NZTR controls its budget and expenditure. The expenditure excluded amounts spent directly by Clubs on their tracks and infrastructure." So in 2024 from the accounts. Track management $187k (AWT maintenance) Track improvements $79k Awapuni construction $4.4m. There was another $546k allocated to Track and surface maintenance programme. $10.5m is in the Infrastructure Reserve account but that only seems to keep growing. -
very interesting player who was only undone by the putter on a tricky Valspar course in the first three rounds of his first test against the big guns in the PGA, HAS BEEN VERY SOLID IN HIS PREVIOUS FINAL ROUND APPEARANCES OF LATE AND AT 1000-1 NOT ALOT IS EXPECTED HERE TOMORROW BUT CAN SURPRISE AS MANY OTHERS COULD FIND PAR DIFFICULT,, OF THOSE CLOSER RILEY HORSCHELL AND CONNORS ARE IN GOOD POSITIONS TO THREATEN OFF THE LEADING BRIGADE AT ODDS

i have walked Pukekohe pre race during Winter and was surprised to see how bad the surface looked at the end of the back straight and by how sharp that corner actually was compared to how it viewed on TV.....ITS THE NATURE OF ALL TURF SURFACES AND THE RESOURCES CERTAIN CLUBS HAVE AT THEIR DISPOSAL....All the money is going into traffic management and security so there is no money for the real neccessities these days...".look it T8 ,your going to be late"... Health and Safety is the biggestand most expensive handbrake we have ever seen in this Country

thought the place at 7.25 futures was great value Paksy ,but by the same token everyone involved particularly the ownership group would of expected the jockey to have a clear run wide moving forward before the turn to have ANY Chance of competing against a horse that was always on paper impossible to beat if you were behind her.... hats off to Craig Grylls that ride was top shelf and the confidence from it promotes more of the same, Riddell was piss weak and riding for luck was what they already had with Rooke...thats racing.... so important to get your combinations right and hopefully the riding instructions were not adhered to

I was responding to the poster who has a 3yr old. If they didn't go through a couple of preps as a two year then dealing with shin soreness at 3yrs needs a different approach. I read some science research about it somewhere. -
It's a renovation fund not a reconstruction fund so why do you think it's not enough for work on racing surface.

Well, put another way I haven't owned a Harness Horse for 50+ years however a baby trotter of ours went around at the Pukekohe Trials/workouts on Thursday. How much notice should we take out of what happens there, other than education?

This is the second time in recent years that a meeting has been called off because of a hole in the track. The previous occasion the hole was around the 600m mark and this time about the 500. The track side road entrance runs adjacent to this area, and I am speculating here but could there be vandalism? Both of these issues have been on the Masterton race day
