Indeed an exciting race. What I can't understand is why the need to have 35, 40 and 41 minute intervals between races on a Friday. Crazy really and drags the day out.

Do keep up…… Ever since news broke on Monday that top Trump officials discussed US military attack plans in a group chat that inadvertently included a journalist, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has projected unflinching confidence. “I know exactly what I’m doing,” Hegseth told reporters Tuesday. By Wednesday, however, other defense officials were increasingly skeptical of that, especially after The Atlantic magazine revealed the details that Hegseth shared in the Signal chat about the pending strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen, including the timing and types of aircraft. “It is safe to say that anybody in uniform would be court-martialed for this,” a defense official told CNN. “My most junior analysts know not to do this.” National Security Adviser Mike Waltz has been criticized for inviting Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg into the chat. And CIA director John Ratcliffe and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, both of whom were on the Signal chat, were grilled over two days of Congressional testimony. But former national security and intelligence officials say it’s Hegseth who looks particularly bad given the level of detail he shared. “The egregious actor here is Hegseth,” said one former senior intelligence official. “He’s in the bullseye now because he puts all this out on a Signal chat.” Interviews with multiple current and former national security officials this week, including career military and civilian officials, reflect growing concerns about Hegseth’s leadership at the Pentagon. The group chat scandal is the latest in a series of what some officials say are examples of questionable judgment by the former Fox News host, as he has struggled to implement consistent and durable policies across the Defense Department in his first two months as secretary.

You have to wonder about a President who rambles on like this at 1.30am in the morning. Though Melania is probably delighted…..

What a great win The Tui Toiler. Most exciting race I have seen for ages. Certainly none of the crawl and sprint home you see up north. Ran them off their feet. -

Not sure if Overpass has a confirmed slot yet, but currently the $2.70 favourite so one would expect so

GRNZ was very clear until they had certainty they weren't going to start the process of implementing the new track, if the decision was different the straight track would have been started by now

Isn't the question that should be asked - while the money is there what are we going to do as an industry, each and everyone of us, to turn the ship around? -
I wonder if Overpass is going over anyone know ? He always seems to grow an extra leg over there

So, are you suggesting that prior to Entain the TAB was incompetent and inefficient (certainly a viable argument) and now under Entain everything is so efficient and so well run that stakes have boomed in a totally sustainable manner and will continue to do so? We have seen million dollar races before, Auckland in the early 90s, 15 of them under Winston and Helen. None of them lasted and they left no long term benefit for the industry because they weren't sustainable. Traditionally in NZ racing, massive stakes for certain races have always been funded by low key meetings generating more revenue than they consume. The excess went to the big feature races. Now the low key meetings run at a loss so there is no excess to distribute to the Auckland's and Wellington's. The funding for those massive stakes therefore comes from a purely benevolent gesture from Entain, for now. I find it quite staggering the number of people who think the industry is going well because of the big stakes, despite turnovers continuing to plummet and virtually no major sponsors to be found anymore. Some people are very short sighted. Admittedly many people have no clear idea how the industry works.
