    • Max had the pleasure of a big day out last Saturday to see a mate's horse run at HQ.  So here are the observations - and I trust someone in management at ATR takes notice. (Cue Tui billboard.) Parking was a shamble. The huge carpark by the Entrance was Orange Cone City with bulldozers and torn up asphalt etc.. and 4 Security wallahs by the Main Entrance had no idea what to say, other than to direct us outside the premises and find a park on the road somewhere. We avoided going into the area marked 'Float Access only' for obvious reasons, only to see a car rather similar to ours rock on into that exact area, no questions asked cos no-one was controlling it.  Inside the Ascot Stand, the stairways and elevator areas on every level absolutely STANK of stale cigarette smoke, No money to sort the aircon system, ATR? The old 'Ascot Lounge' (?) ie ground floor bar/betting area on the right hand side of the Grandstand, has had a makeover, with bright 'TAB Winning Post' signage above the door.  How fab, thought Max - better go and have a look and see what they've done, seeing as the room was basically empty.  Oh no you don't Maxi ..you've just got an 'Owner's' Ticket, you're not allowed into the empty-as, new-fandangled Winning Post facility -you have to have some kind of special ticket. Two security personnel (just doing their jobs) made sure Terrorist Max didn't get to see much or very long. Nor was there any explanation as to what kind of ticket was required to get in there. This was about the time of Race 6 or 7. The most pleasant place was actually the Public Grandstand - beautifully behaved real people (from young ladies having aa 21st celebration to family groups and granmas 'n' granpas havin' fun with the billy lids). Plenty of sun, warm-ish outside on the lawn but plenty of room and no idiot behaviour. Very pleasant in that area. And the biggest joke of the day ...$52 for a bottle of The Ned Anything - a pleasant enuf 'quaffer' you can buy for $13-$18 at your local retail store or supermarket. But not at Ellerslie, no sir...want a bottle of Ned Pinot Gris or Chardonnay? Come right this way, Sir, hand over $52.00 and it's yours. What a rip. Most people on this site know that Max is fond of a Moet from time to time...but he'll NEVER EVER pay $145.00 to ATR's rip-off brigade. Maybe that's how Moet et Chandon reimburse themselves for their Sponsorship Fees in a season. $145.00 a bottle? What a rort, ATR. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Marks out of 10:  5.5 - most pf them for the pleasant weather, well-behaved racegoers and decent toilets, TAB terminals, TV screens  and clean loos. Points deducted for officious unhelpful officials who need to learn how to say 'good afternoon, how casn I help?', crappy aircon in Ascot Stand and outrageously overpriced drinkies.

    • WASHINGTON - Today, the Committee on House Administration's Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) sent a letter to Department of Defense (DoD) Inspector General (IG) Robert Storch, demanding a correction of the DoD's factually inaccurate January 6 report, as first reported by The Federalist.  After a thorough investigation, the Subcommittee uncovered evidence substantiating that the Department of Defense intentionally delayed the deployment of the D.C. National Guard to the Capitol on January 6, 2021. In addition, the DoD IG concealed the extent and cause of the delay to protect Department of Defense and Pentagon leadership. The Subcommittee found multiple instances where the DoD IG failed to disclose evidence that contradicted the DoD IG's erroneous conclusion.    The DoD IG’s report reflects an alarming failure to adequately evaluate the actions of senior DoD officials, including Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy, who failed to communicate deployment orders to Major General William Walker, the Commander of the DCNG on January 6.   “My Subcommittee worked with the DoD IG in good faith throughout our investigation to provide multiple opportunities for the DOD IG to produce corroborating materials or evidence to support their conclusions,” said Chairman Loudermilk. “Unfortunately, the DoD IG continues to promote an inaccurate narrative that protects senior Pentagon officials and attempts to cast fault on the D.C. National Guard, who were ready and waiting less than 2 miles from the Capitol but unable to respond on January 6 due to lack of communication from the Secretary of the Army.”    "My Subcommittee released transcripts that show that not only were political concerns of ‘optics’ at play, but that DoD officials continued to delay as the riot at the Capitol worsened. The evidence is conclusive: DoD officials misled Congress into believing that help was ‘on the way’ with full knowledge that it wasn’t.” Watch never-before-seen video footage from HBO, showing the Secretary of the Army’s false statements to Congressional leadership. At 3:18pm, Secretary McCarthy tells sheltering Members of Congress that he is not blocking deployment of the National Guard and, while referencing the D.C. National Guard, shares that “We have the greenlight. We are moving”. However, the Secretary of the Army’s own timeline indicates that the DCNG did not physically leave the Armory until 17:00 [5pm]  This must be propaganda Bloke, I believe your💩 Hokeys own emoji.
