Waller didn't take Winx overseas, so I can't see him taking Aeliana away from the much easier and bigger money available in Australia. She's a Melbourne Cup hope. She can stay, as shown on Saturday, and she has a turn-of-foot, which many Cup hopefuls lack. However, backing a runner in the Cup in April is always a mistake. -
....today by Wolverine. Bought by TA two years ago from GC sale for $A850k and not fired a shot in half a dozen starts since but now in the care of Bergerson Snr may be enjoying a change of scenery. Worth watching on today's effort though with winter coming I'm not sure what might be available for a mare of her calibre.

Wow!! Debatable but is that the best ever version of a queen Elizabeth that's as good a field as you could ever get of current and form horses going around normally a small field with a standout like winx, via sistina barrier 1 that's no favour. Hurry up Saturday 😀 -
The Entain schedule of Code funding increases relative to the 2022/23 season; 23/24 +36% - 24/25 +40% - 25/26 +44% - 26/27 +48% - 27/28 +60% If Entain increases GBR by 100%, when that is split we only get the same funding as we had in the 22/23 season, which of course was dominated by the old TAB over paying the codes and then reducing payments which resulted in stakes being lowered in the second half of the season, as well as HRNZ reserve funds being used to top up. To sustain the increases in funding we need at least 50% more than 22/23, which means that Entain have to increase GBR by 200% by the end of the 5 year guarantee, in June 2028. Other factors that will influence the ongoing income of course are the demise of the dogs, the introduction of Geo-blocking and the $100m payment, as well as the product offering to the punters. Not that long ago CEO Brad said that the Entain Turnover in NZ was up 6% this year( can't find the article), only another 194% to go, Go Entain, you've got this!

I know people do tend to get very excited when a filly wins a Derby and think she's the next Winx or whatever, but really ...you think the ARC is in their thinking? Maybe when she's done/doing a Very Elleegant or a Makybe Diva or a quarter of a Winx, but surely not just on account of this ATC Derby rout.??

Surprised to see Vauban in the top field and not the bottom one. Never got a chance to see what his handicap was but perhaps too heavy?

The $750,000 Ashland Stakes (G1) was essentially over as soon as it started as La Cara bounced beautifully from her No. 2 post position, took command, and never looked back en route to victory by about a half-length at Keeneland April 7.View the full article -

Paul Vettise, LOVERACING. NZ, News Desk 8 April 2025 The stars in Sydney were all in alignment for Little Avondale Stud to celebrate a record auction result during the second session of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. Sam and Catriona Williams’ Masterton nursery had high hopes on Monday for their son of Zoustar and Belluci Babe, a daughter of resident sire Per Incanto, and he surpassed all expectations. The dam is a three-quarter sister to Little Avondale graduate Evaporate whose timely emergence further boosted the profile of her first foal. Offered as Lot 297, the colt was eventually knocked down for A$1.7 million to Hong Kong interests to fittingly mark the stud’s 85th year of selling yearlings. “We were hoping to hit the seven-figure mark, but you can never expect to do it, you just hope you can,” Williams said. “The most expensive yearling we had previously sold was a Savabeel colt by the name of Addictive Nature for $775,000 and to sell a horse over $500,000 anywhere is pretty special.” Williams had a fair inkling before the Zoustar youngster graced the ring that he was going to push the boundaries. “We knew we had a special colt and timing is everything, Evaporate winning the Carbine Club (Gr.3, 1600m) two days beforehand when he franked the form of running second in The (NZB) Kiwi (1500m) was the best piece of advertising you can put on any colt or fillies’ page,” he said. “The colt is a grouse looking horse and his temperament is just to die for. He had over 200 parades and he did it in the same manner every time, he was phenomenal. “The staff did a spectacular job and they are very proud of their boy, as we all are.” The son of Zoustar is likely to remain in Australia before eventually making his way offshore. “The new owners were over from Hong Kong, and it looks like the horse will commence his racing through Liam Howley’s stable and then possibly further his career in Hong Kong with Douglas Whyte,” Williams said. “It was just a massive result and a few of the family have raced well in Hong Kong, Billion Win was a stakes winner and we sold Trillion Win who was the first foal out of Sound Lover and was stakes placed. “Cheeky was O’Reilly’s first ever $200,000 yearling and he went to Hong Kong and won eight, so a lot of the family have done well up there.” Little Avondale’s result in Sydney marked an anniversary year for the stud in spectacular fashion. “It’s very special and the Zoustar colt and Evaporate are direct descendants of Haggada from my grandmother’s first ever family and the yearlings she first sold 85 years ago,” Wiliams said. -
CNN pulled the plug today on Fareed Zakaria Gps because of plagiarism by the host in a Time magazine column and a blog post for the network. “We have reviewed Fareed Zakaria’s Time column, for which he has apologized. He wrote a shorter blog post on CNN.com on the same issue which included similar unattributed excerpts. That blog post has been removed and CNN has suspended Fareed Zakaria while this matter is under review,” said CNN in a statement Friday afternoon. Broadcasts of Your Money With Ali Velshi will air in Gps’s 10 Am Sunday time slot and The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer will air in the show’s 1 Pm slot. Zakaria was suspended by Time earlier in the day after it came to light that portions of a column that he wrote on gun control for the magazine’s August 20

Certainly over the 1100 the fence does work. Over the 1200 on a G4 with 21 starters outside is primo, racing on unused ground, and field will always split. Outside draw a massive advantage with winners rarely coming from a draw less than 15. The current trend of delivering a S6 or S7 is altering the way the races pan out and your observation very correct

I am in the vast majority of Kiwis who know that Trump is a convicted criminal, a Molester of woman, a chronic liar and he incited an insurrection. The wackos on here are by far in the minority. When it comes to Tariffs even Egg Head Luxcon thinks Trump screwed up.
