Exactly my thoughts watching the last couple of races , as much as the discussion around tracks is about the substructure and root depth , running numerous meetings at one track over a shortish period without proper recovery time is far worse in my book , when you look at Waverley and Trentham and the number of meetings they have had to carry , you have to think that the lack of repair time is far worse for a track than if they were given a decent amount of time between meetings . And the more meetings the harder for a surface to recuperate without a substantial break .
Thankfully they don't have any meetings programmed for a while but who knows when either of these tracks will be called into duty at short notice again .
Those involved will be holding their collective breaths for Awapuni and Wanganui this week .
57 multi's , Sunline would self implode at the thought , geez how much money you risked on that last horse , should have cashed out after the first , safety first .
I don't have the exact fact of how much rain we got, but it was heavy for about 3 hours, and the rest was mostly strong winds. Some places flooded, some didn't even look damp, but I think the heavy downpours weren't widespread.
As a matter of interest does anyone know just how much rain Ellerslie got leading up to Saturday? Family at Pakuranga reported plenty of wind but not a huge amount of rain. From Wednesday to Saturday morning I recorded just over 200 mls in Whangarei.
Previously place one from two on heavy and much tougher opposition than today. As I've said previously she may get a better track in the next little while but not a lot available for a mare of her calibre going into winter.
Nice work. Never really know how one will back up on the short turn around but after watching Saturday she barely left 2nd gear so had a bit left in the tank.
Yeah nice little fill up. Been a while to be fair.
Have a Heinz 57 multi running so if I can get 1 or even both of the last two up it would be a nice Easter.
