My biggest take out of the meeting was that although it is a big day , not only as Anzac day but for Race and CD racing in general , but the best they can do is 17k stakes outside of the main race of the day . No hooplah or anything . Now I'm no fan of Race but surely this is pretty big in the scheme of CD racing and how hard they have done things with the lack of tracks . I thought they could have done more with the reopening . -

Vital for CD racing that Awapuni does an Ellerslie and delivers a very good surface over the next few months. Likely will not be perfect on day one, but has to excel soon after Critical for CD and lower NI racing -

Hasn't been to much of that at the trials lets hope it performs well...it is badly needed. -
More than likely though smaller fields they do race a bit pedestrian, but they should spread out depending on kick back. -

Yes, if you had documents like that for every top race at your fingertips, you wouldn't need my pre-race bletherings. I hope Nick Smith and Ascot take note - the problem up here is we have 48 hour final declarations, HK seem to work much further in advance. -
Indeed and the connections of HEAVENLY HEATHER at Newcastle last Friday were probably just going to "enjoy the fun and the experience" but she goes in at 200/1. They said after the race they'd "had a couple of quid" on the filly (connections do, don't they?). I'm going to gently disagree with you again and say it's about the dream of winning, the hope rather than the expectation. It is also about the fun and the experience of course. I wish EL VENCEADOR and connections nothing but good fortune - the main thing is he comes back safe and sound, anything else is a bonus. As an advertisement for NZ racing in the wider racing world, it's also a big positive.
