One of Australian racing’s most popular horses in recent times, Happy Clapper has died at the age of 14 after succumbing to a bout of colic.
A multiple Group 1 winner, Happy Clapper was prepared by larrikin trainer Pat Webster and was renowned for his courageous performances against champion Winx.
He raced against the grand mare 11 times for six minor placings, getting closest when finishing three-quarters of a length second to her in the 2018 George Ryder Stakes (1500m).
All up he raced 48 times for 12 wins and 18 placings, his prizemoney earnings falling just short of $7.3 million.

My memory isn't as great as it once was; when Awapuni was first closed for this redevelopment (for want of a better word), it was due to problems on the home turn? Would today's slip have been in exactly the same place as the past problems?
yes it does seems to little added too late as is always the case with a shifty tracksuits happened so many times now but STILL nothing changes except of course the date of the report into what happened.🤡
Too many hurdles in the way? That's something else that has virtually disappeared!!!!
Interesting the K Hercock said that it needed more water. Does that make sense?
The troubling things to me Scoobs are the comments 'we will take this and learn from it" - Well, despite a multitude of disasters over the last months they don't seem to have learned much at all do they? Secondly, 'experts'. Lord knows what they are being paid but whatever it is it far exceeds their abilities as they have accomplished nothing at all - unless you count cost, stress and unhappiness for owners/trainers/jockeys/punters.
If the expected report 'blames' anyone it will be some poor hapless soul who did exactly what he was asked and it's easier to hang him/her out to dry than one of the Important People - who I doubt are half as important as they like to think.
The phrase 'couldn't run a piss up in a brewery' springs to mind.
I hate to admit it but words fail me and Lordy me I can assure you that doesn't often happen.
The End Of My Rant
Crickey all this track talk, I know its frustrating, but who the hell would want to race a horse these days, best just stand down, to many hurdles in the way, won't have yo worry about abandonments, trainers and travel costs, the industry as a whole, just send them to a better place.
Thanks Blaird at least you front up with facts not like the dozen or so....that wont even have the guts to name the ones he can.
Interesting a few nice ones in there but there is alot that do not feature.
In my opinion I believe Paul Moroney is the best judge in NZ based on the fact he never has the budget some of the bigger buyers like TA have, but as I say thats just my personal preference.
Haha...they ask to show respect...are they showing any...no way in hell, just taking the piss!!!! Entirely unforeseen like the 20 or so before it...give me a break pleeeeease...
