Watch his drive on Brewster Baker yesterday - his hemorrhoids playing up again from the 400 and horse flies to bits

I agree totally - seen so many horses butchered and never came back to their full potential. Wag Star - Mark Hurrel at Addington twice - looked like a top liner - now battling Muscle Mountain - Ben Hope Rowe Cup - never been the same since that butchery Always Dreaming - Nathan Williamson - lost close to 200m and yet won - never been the same since Very Majestic - Reilly Harrison - must have been 200m of the leader at one stage at Addington - chased to run 2nd or 3rd - has no zip now Does this mean they are all awful drivers - they certainly didn't see what future affect it would have on their horses

They are currently considering NZTR offer as opposed to NZTR doing a compulsory takeover which is in legislation. Whether AJC accept is another matter. Winston will be losing patience id say and can of course introduce further legislation to acquire courses deemed surplus

It appears as if 80 is the new 50 in Thoroughbred racing.View the full article -
Nothing is going to improve until the sector groups get voting rights on NZTR. The current relationship is ancient and the mother of all the cock ups you are seeing now. It can also be punitive to individuals. People at the coal face know stuff about local conditions. If you are a local trainer or jockey would you be listened to. If not why stick your head up over the parapet. RIB know they dodged a bullet over Taikis death and will close down a meeting at the first sign of an incident.

But when European horses come to Australia for essentially a hit-and-run mission (Dubai Honour) they don't have the same excuses? Ex-HK horses come back to Aus and NZ with 000000 form lines and string wins together. Sure, they had long campaigns I guess, but they finished last, with the exception of a broken down runner. I don't believe there are any horses racing in Australasia (not including imports) that can compete past 1200-1400m in Hong Kong at the top level. -

They wont put their heads up the trainers I mean as the would get pulled into tow the party line. I as an owner would be very happy to get some sort of movement going ,someone somewhere needs to be accountable, and nobody ever is !!!! -

I was writing the same time as you posted Insider...but we seem to agree except I think Hayes will come down a week or two in advance, he will be mighty hard to beat. -
Really? Perhaps they both failed to acclimatise quickly enough on the hit-and-run raid. The same is true of many horses travelling long distances and asked to beat high-class opposition. (Ask some of the trainers of European raiders to VRC Cup carnival.)

I think thats a little unfair SB, maybe they are a little behind but both of them were at the end of tough seasons, hard to condemn then on their runs today FWIW...and Ka Ying Rising will be hard to beat if he turns up like he did today. I hope Mr B maybe can end up at the Legends for his retirement...he has nothing to prove. -
I see it differently. Both El Vencidor and Mr Brightside are at the end of a very long season. When both NZ and Australia had good success in HK, it was at the International Meeting in December. Ka Ying Rising will be interesting. For him to be successful in The Everest believe that it will necessitate the Hayes Team getting him down to Australia months before the race, not flying the week before, as we are required to do. Now I have opened myself up to something 😂

El Vencedor and Mr Brightside's performances show how far NZ and Aus racing is behind Hong Kong and Japan, and to some extent, Europe. Anything past 1200m and they just can't compete, and I would fancy Ka Ying Rising to put a hole in The Everest field. -
Since it could be a great night for Kiwi-bred, here's a quick quiz question: From a pedigree perspective, what do Ka Ying Rising, Mr Brightside and El Vencedor all have in common?

They don't seem to get involved in anything. You get the impression they don't feel they have anything worthwhile to contribute. I saw Kelvin Tyler quoted a couple of weeks ago complaining about the lack of racing opportunities down south and the numbers of horses getting balloted and eliminated every time there is a meeting down there. The owners and trainers should be all over things like that, but as far as we know they remain silent. I certainly don't recall a single thing being introduced or implemented because the owners and trainers have suggested something.
