Can't find the recent thread but ask if the times can be trusted. Apart from the hand-timing, races of 1,200 metres down the chute seem to produce times not compatible with other distances on the same days. Assume that the chute is not watered as the proper course, and not used as much, but wonder if the measurement is very acurate. High Glee ran 1:08 for six furlongs, about 60 years ago, and now under 1:07 can be achieved but times for olnger distances don't seem to have improved to a similar degree. -

Taiona, the dam of Sovereign Red, Gurner's Lane and Delia's Choice. with Foxwood, Opposing Forces, Will Power and Mr. B. nearby. Ka Ying Rising looks to be an exceptional horse, perhaps the class of Black Caviar? -
Watch his drive on Brewster Baker yesterday - his hemorrhoids playing up again from the 400 and horse flies to bits

I agree totally - seen so many horses butchered and never came back to their full potential. Wag Star - Mark Hurrel at Addington twice - looked like a top liner - now battling Muscle Mountain - Ben Hope Rowe Cup - never been the same since that butchery Always Dreaming - Nathan Williamson - lost close to 200m and yet won - never been the same since Very Majestic - Reilly Harrison - must have been 200m of the leader at one stage at Addington - chased to run 2nd or 3rd - has no zip now Does this mean they are all awful drivers - they certainly didn't see what future affect it would have on their horses

They are currently considering NZTR offer as opposed to NZTR doing a compulsory takeover which is in legislation. Whether AJC accept is another matter. Winston will be losing patience id say and can of course introduce further legislation to acquire courses deemed surplus

Nothing is going to improve until the sector groups get voting rights on NZTR. The current relationship is ancient and the mother of all the cock ups you are seeing now. It can also be punitive to individuals. People at the coal face know stuff about local conditions. If you are a local trainer or jockey would you be listened to. If not why stick your head up over the parapet. RIB know they dodged a bullet over Taikis death and will close down a meeting at the first sign of an incident.

But when European horses come to Australia for essentially a hit-and-run mission (Dubai Honour) they don't have the same excuses? Ex-HK horses come back to Aus and NZ with 000000 form lines and string wins together. Sure, they had long campaigns I guess, but they finished last, with the exception of a broken down runner. I don't believe there are any horses racing in Australasia (not including imports) that can compete past 1200-1400m in Hong Kong at the top level. -

They wont put their heads up the trainers I mean as the would get pulled into tow the party line. I as an owner would be very happy to get some sort of movement going ,someone somewhere needs to be accountable, and nobody ever is !!!! -
