RACE COMMENTS Race 1 MURRAY CONTRACTORS 2200m The start of this race was officially delayed 18 minutes due to the late arrival of the Veterinarian.
The above from todays Woodville stipes report -
Shit happens I know - but do we need things like this on top of slippages and raceday abandonments?
Seems like racing in the CD can't catch a break at the moment 🫣
To be fair to Aaron White I dont think he has ever had to call something five back the fence.
Alex Park fields so small that "five back the fence" is simply called "single file"
I've broken in plenty of horses and it never came close to $100+ a day , like Transport operators and every other sphere of racing the costs have spiraled , why?
New owners are getting thin on the ground and this is a major contributor .
As Unbridled said above: New Kids Breakers cost 20%+ more than Gr1 Trainers. And they don't work horses weekends but charge full rates.
So I have found out. My baby has been at the breakers all this month and with all the public holidays and weekends, it's probably 50/50 with the days worked verses the days simply being fed and put out and at $105.00 plus GST per day!
He's had a great learning curve over the last 10 or so years and he knows what to do with a top horse and how to deal with the pressure so I'm sure he will get plenty of horses offered to him .
There is a new show on Netflix called Race To The Crown - it follows some owners, trainers and jockeys through the triple crown races in 2024. They sure do things differently over there. It's a great watch though.
A great move by James and all for the good of Australian Racing.
It wont only be Nomates who will be queuing up to joint the new stable.
Now I know why Edward walked away from Leilani Lodge when it looked like he would get it.
I wonder [probably far fetched] if there will be a second stable at Hawkesbury headed by Edward.
It will probably be necessary, as even John O'Shea has a number two one there and I am guessing that James will be much bigger than John.
P.S. If I was younger I would be in like a shot. It's 30 years since I last raced one in the Green and Gold Diagonal Stripes.

The second horse was pushed early in the straight. The Te Akau runner wasn't touched, so it's fair to say the TA runner could have cleared out by 3-4 lengths if they wanted.
It needs to be winning Group races at a minimum...lets hope she keeps going forward but a long way to go yet.
There were some other nice trials there too....🫢
